In my opinion, this whole "we don't release the names of juveniles" thing should be looked at. There is no permanent solution to any crime, but if everyone knows that if/when caught, their names are going to be made public, someone out there might think twice. And 13, 14 and 17 is plenty old enough to know the difference between right and wrong.

i agree...there was an incident around my town recently of a couple breaking into houses stealing stuff, guns, money, pretty much anything...this went on for a couple months before they were caught, the man was in his 20's but the girl was a minor and they weren't releasing her name or showing her picture, it was always 'fuzzed' out so you could see details, all there was to go on was a description-5'4" tall teenage female with red hair~130 pounds or something, not exactly unique ya know...not helpful at all but they ended up being caught by a few normal citizens who 'arrested' them and turned them over to the state troopers

i second that...its fucked up that people often get worse sentences for stealing something that really doesn't hurt anyone beyond merely upsetting them for no longer having a material item that they liked than people who cause serious, major harm physically and mentally to innocent people...
