3d technology... gimmicky ?

I have to say this new trend in televisions, networks, movies, gaming...it all seems like its going to fail...

its a great idea, but i think 3D tech is a gimmick and is very limited as of now...It has the potential once the technology evolves...

to me a 3D movie or show is just lame...once they figure out how to broadcast a sporting event that simulates a front row seat (3D+full 360 environment), then I will be impressed but for now it all seems so stupid. But for now, I will not spend my money of anything 3D.

3-D television and movies had been tired for a long time now, and haven't worked, and it won't work in any great fashion for some time to come. It still a long ways off before we will have viable technologies that will make 3-D viewing experiences both practical, enjoyable, and worthwhile for most people and most mediums let along making the visual medium truly 3-D and not some gimmicky optics effect.

It wouldn't shock me if we might very well have to wait until true holograms or something similar start showing up before 3-D movies, games, and television become good, especially for things that are viewed by more than one person in different positions.

What's the big deal? Based on the picture of you in your avatar you've already gotten passed the fear of wearing goggles all the time.

Just change the lenses to red/blue lenses and you're all set.:dunno:

Exactly. I wish people would quit bitching about 3D and let it run its course. Yea it sucks now. But its much better than olds chool 3D. Watch My Bloody Valentine 3D then watch Avatar in 3D and tell me its not 100's of times better!

Given that, you can imagine that given a few more years 3D will be fuckin amazing! I won't buy 3D shit now either. But once its well developed, I know I won't be able to live without it.

Look at video games. How technically amazing are they today? Compare that with 25 years ago. Give 3D technology 25 years...
