2007 MLB Thread

That'd be the only reason i could think of. ESPN has turned into the MTV of sports. It seems to be more bullshit analysis of games than it is actual games.

What's even worse is the fact most of the people on ESPN doing sports analysis are idiots. :1orglaugh

What network are you watching then?

Alot of the time I'm checking box scores online or reading recaps. I don't need to hear what some ass magnet analyst thinks about what a player should or shouldn't have done. If in the event that the Boston game is on ESPN I'll just mute the sound. I see no use in watching SportsCenter,PTI,Jim Rome,or Around The Horn. SportsCenter used to great to watch but to me it's just something for all the joy boys on there to see how many retarded catchphrases they can squeeze in during an NBA highlight. If I want to see a highlight I'll watch the sports report on FSN or find it online somewhere.

Like Chris Berman said "Coming up next I'll try and work in a new quirky nickname for every player from the 1976 Philadelphia Flyers"

I simply hate every facet of ESPN.

Boston Red Sox 41w 24L
New York Yankees 33w 31L 7.5 gb

Look at that lead slowly dwindling, awwww what a shame, and those swell Boston fans said we could never catch up. Seems like those great Red Sox are starting to practice their season ending choke. :rofl2:

Sportscenter is stupid. No argument here. It has no place in this era of television and internet. Especially considering they have a whole channel devoted to sports news now. But ESPN is by far and away the best sports network on the planet. How many ESPN's are there now? Six? Tell me another complete sports network that even compares.

Fox Sports Net - Too small and localized. And the announcers are WAY worse.
Comcast - Too Local
Sky Sports - Too British
Versus - LOL

I guess I just like the analysis of guys like Jay Bilas, and I like to watch multiple sports in high def with many different national opinions. Call me crazy, I guess. lol

Didn't the Yankees come back from a big mid season deficit a few years ago? I like their chances to be honest. Still, 8 back is still an enormous amount of games. But weren't they like 27 back a few weeks ago?;) Manageable at least now.

Even with the win streak against offensive juggernauts like The White Sox,Pittsburgh, and Arizona it's still 7.5 games. It'll bug me when it's like 1.5 or 2. Till then it's no big deal.

peter gammons is the smartest man alive.

The only baseball analyst I ever liked from ESPN was Rob Neyer, and that was back when he did articles on their crappy website and before they made you pay to read them.

Besides ESPN also hires people like Joe Morgan and Joe Theismann. If they added Joe Buck they could complete the trifecta of ultimate suckitude with just people named Joe.

I do have to admit that Ron Jaworski might be the best relatively well-known mainstream football guy out there.

i told everybody the yankees would win the card. they wont catch the red sox, but they will pass whoever chokes between cleveland and detroit.

d-rock, how can you not like peter gammons? the man knows what he is talking about. not like the rest of the baseball tonight clan.

It's not that I dislike him. Compared to the others he probably is head and shoulders above them. In some ways he can give you a perspective that would be hard to get anywhere else. I guess part of the reason I don't like him as good as some other writers that I read on the Internet is because in some ways for a long time he too was stuck in the old school inflexible baseball mindset.

Didn't the Yankees take 2 of 3 from the Red Sox the series before the Whitesox, yes they did. I seem to recall them taking 2 of 3 from the Red Sox the series before that one too. At least we are winning against the weak NL teams. The Sox got blown out by the very powerful Colorado Rockies 2 games in a row.

 Wake me up when you have something ground breaking that I don't already know. I expected NY to beat up on Pittsburgh and Arizona. I also expected Boston to run into a rough patch at some point. There's what 96 or 97 games left? I'm not going to worry about anything yet.

I just read about the last game the Cubs played. Not only did they blow it, but it looks like their trying to become the thugs of the league.
