2007 MLB Thread

Please, any actual baseball fan knows "the WILD CARD" was established so Boston could "make" the playoffs.

the wild card was established so the two best records in each league would make the playoffs. remember 1993? the braves and giants both had 100 wins, but they were both in the same division. philadelphia got to go despite not having 100 wins. the wild card had absolutely nothing to do with the red sox or yankees.

For Boston fans not to give a shit about history, they sure bring up 2004 alot. well thats history now too. They think it actually bothers Yankee fans, which most I know of have forgotten about it by now. It's Boston fans that dwell on it because they know thats the only time theyve ever outdone the Yankees. P.S fellow Yankee fans. Lets swallow our pride this year, we suck and arent making the playoffs. We have to accept that.

I posted a few weeks ago, and someone thought I was a Yankee fan! Sorry to disappoint you, I like the Cards. Yet for some reason the Bosox win a W-S in '04 and their fans think the BoSox belong in the elite or upper echelon? Please, any actual baseball fan knows "the WILD CARD" was established so Boston could "make" the playoffs. That 0-3 comeback was just as much the Yankees folding as it was D. Lowe pitching his ass off....Schilling was just a product of the media. Also, as far as the past being the past, Last I saw the Yankees have taken the last 4 of 6 from Boston, the Yankees starting pitching is getting settled, and Boston fans "YOUR GM did offer around 18 mil for that 45 yr pitcher, that you folks seem to say you don't need". Enough said. It is still JUNE. Beginning of October is a long way away.

Shit, I wish there was special things made up just for Boston. I'll agree with you Lowe was really good in the post season that year. I wish he was still around. Schilling a product of the media? :1orglaugh If anything that was guts. 4 out of 6 from Boston? That's fantastic. Wait,no it's not. The Yankees still haven't gained any ground with those wins. Let NY have Roger. Then instead of just 4 they'll have a full group of starters not able to get through the 5th inning. It's still June and October is a long way away? Congratulations. You understand the general concept of a calendar.

P.S. How are things going in St Louis?

iamforever! I know the "wildcard" was not established for the redsox. I said it to piss them off. That is the only way Boston can make playoffs anymore.

Cards are still reigning WS Champs.so things are fine! BTW! If Schilling was cut on or operated on while he was pitching, Did those "team" doctors not give him some 'ROIDS to strengthen that tissue? WOW! most surgeons do. And even blood clotting meds contain 'Roids. Why is Schilling not mentioning this crap?

And I am gonna sound cocky! Cards and YANKEES have both "lost" more World Series then Boston has won..........Basically when ya get a baseball team that actually is "continuous" call us!

I think as long as they don't let more teams a year into the playoffs than they do now that the wild card is a good thing. I still hate inter-league play though and the unbalanced schedule. Not only does it guarantee the two best records in the league make it, it also makes it fairer for some teams in a stronger division. Although that's still not perfect, as it still sucks if your Tampa or Toronto and have to be in the same division as both Boston and New York for example.

i agree about interleague, but how can you hate the unbalanced schedule. it almost assures that the division will be won within the division. :dunno:

In a game like football where there are so few games played I think there is a necessity to play your division opponents more just out of fairness. With baseball it's easy to set it up where every team plays the others an equal amount of times, that way there is no excuse for having a worse record than any other team in your league. Plus it might matter when you’re competing against others for a playoff spot or to gain home field advantage.

your point would make it easier for cleveland or detroit to win. :D

No it doesn't bother me. 2004 was great. I was happy with it. Do I want to see them win another one? Of course I do but I don't sit and dwell on it because they haven't. If they go to the post season this year and don't win it'll bother me for a few hours or maybe a day then I'll move on. It's only baseball.

I think you're a little pathetic with this crap of reminding me of the world titles NY has. I honestly don't give a shit. That NY history doesn't mean shit to me. I'm certainly not in awe of it and never will be.

Well were even i guess because i find it pretty pathetic that you keep responding to what i say, when i am mostly saying it to get a rise out of you, and you keep pathetically responding. I can't believe you haven't seen that. Because in the grand scheme of things, i do agree with you that it's only baseball. When the Yankees lose a game or a series or whatever, i say "Oh damnit" or whatever and life goes on. So let's just say that we agree to disagree on a lot of issues and leave it at that, i'm here to have fun, not to fight, maybe I took it a bit far, but so be it. I think a Yankee and a Boston fan can peacefully co-exist on the same forum, after all as you said, and i agree, it's only baseball. Peace Clarkie.

Wow the Yankees hit a new low tonight, allowing an inside the park HR....well when they are great they are great and when they suck, at least they do suck as much as you can suck.:rofl2:

i have a sneaky feeling that the yankees will squeeze by cleveland for the card. :dunno:

Whatever you are smoking, give me some:1orglaugh , i'd like to think that, I just can't, not as much as they suck right now. Cleveland is playing great ball right now, the way the Yankees should be playing. The I swear the Yankees look like they are sleepwalking when they play.

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
I grew up in Cleveland and trust me...the Indians could win 140 games and the "Cleveland Curse" would still find a way for them to fuck it up.

Just look at the Cavs for example. We have the so-called "King", the "next Jordan" (which is horse crap by the way), and we're still going to get our asses kicked in the Finals. Case in point, game 1, if anyone saw it.

The only thing that us Cleveland sports fans have to look forward to is "next year", which is sad.

PS - To all the people talking about "reigning champs" or champions from 3 or 4 years ago...the team that loses in the championships is just another one of the teams who didn't win it all.

So...basically what your saying is that Brady Quinn's career is already doomed? :1orglaugh

struggling against the royals and reds is great ball?

Well no :1orglaugh they are still better than the Yankees right now though!

ok,for once I'm going to avoid brining up the Red Sox.

I was wondering something. Do you guys think that if it weren't for the multitude of injuries throughout Ken Griffey Jr's career he'd be the one chasing Hank Aaron's HR record instead of Bonds? Also,do you think Hank would be acting differently if it we Junior breaking the record? I personally feel it's a big yes on both accounts.
