$150 million for Obama Inauguration

Re: No ...

The reason people are making a "big deal" over this is because people made a "big deal" over W.'s inaugurations, Clinton's, etc... They chastized W. for spending 1/5th as much, so Obama gets equal criticism.

Yes, he will receive the same criticism and more.

Also, since he said he was for "change" when he makes a "bad" move he will be criticized even more. ;)

Remember this is the "change" everyone supposedly wanted. :hatsoff:

Well, I like Obama.

He's really popular in Europe and elsewhere. He's just what (we think) we need after this disastrous Bush puppet. I'd have him and his wife over for dinner anytime. Also nice to see he didn't pull too many punches over the status of Black Americans when he said that Indian and Chinese kids are working so much harder to get the grades to come and study here, with much less facility in their countries to do so.

But in truth I don't really think he's a big believer in race, and I don't think the election was won on racial issues either - which is what some people have been saying. Loads of folk from all walks of life like him.

And I thought the fist/open hand phrase he used without mentioning the word "Iran" in his speech yesterday was fucking cool.

Also I fancy his wife.

Actually, he's already being criticized for filling his cabinet with a great number of lobbyists, former lobbyists and number of people with strong lobbyist ties.

In reality, I knew he lied the moment he said he would not bring lobbyists into his organization. But the Americans who think lobbyists are some sort of dark, evil singularity bought it.

Sorry, not Obama's wife ...

I'd gladly have Obama, but not his wife. Freak'n reminds me of Hillary, only worse. We elected Obama, just like Bill, not their wives. It's one thing for their wives to be selected by The President for a duty, but for them to interrupt them, sorry. Obama's wife is worse than Hillary in that regard.

I'd say the same thing if Hillary was elected and Bill started making policy without her approval, or he interrupting her.

BTW, most everyone who had dinner with the Bush's rather enjoyed their down home company. It was so middle class-like that they were sometimes made fun of by select royalty. The permanent White House staff (typically service people) regularly commented how the Bush's respected the White House much better than the Clinton's, let alone their own staff.

It's one thing to disagree with policies, but another to disagree with personality. W. was a horrendous public speaker, but he is quite a nice individual to know personally, from many accounts. His wife more of the same.

I voted for a third party candidate.
Just because, it's not like I thought my vote would count. ;)
I voted Bednarik (American Libertarian[-Capitalist]) in 2004. I wrote in "Ross Perot" in 2008 because I didn't like the Republican the Libertarians put up this time.

I vote my conscience. Ross Perot "told it how it is" back in 1992, knew the coming shit-storm in business, the always increasing spending, etc... I personally love how he educated me that a surplus is not a surplus, and the government spends any surplus anyway, among other things where the surplus came from (by including non-revenue withholdings, like Social Security).

It's too bad he wasn't elected, although he did prevent Clinton from getting anywhere near 50%.
