Firefox 3 ...

Firefox 3 does an excellent job at taming flash, at least under Linux (but probably Windows as well).

Windows Update (I **** that yellow warning), Java, Toolbar (I always uncheck this box when I install some program that ads toolbar) and Outlook too!

just trashed norton, downloading avast .
Because-
Dave Rhino never steered me wrong.
Dave rhino is gold
I hope.

Last person who took my computer advice ended up getting shot and buried in the Sahara desert. It's a long and painful story.

Let's hope you will not meet a similar end.

Real Player's just a lame program with a lot of unnecessary procedures & features. I don't see how that company has any customers buying a full version. I’ve never known anyone to use it as their primary media player, let alone give them money as they constantly instruct you to do with their annoying pop-up screens.

Avast just found 6 viruses that norton did nothing about.
My vote Norton and realplayer.
One of the first things I did when I bought my last comp.was delete all things Realplayer.

Helix Player (instead of Real Player)

Real helped develop the GPL (open source) Premium Link Upgrade which can play all sorts of formats, as well as load its proprietary codecs. All of the Linux and open source community refused to even refer to the Real Player (much less bundle) the product because of the type of non-sense it did on your PC. It's used on all sorts of embedded, table and other devices, including One Laptop Per ***** (OLPC).

Unfortunately, they don't make a "clean" version for Windows. It's only part of their overloaded, commercial products.

speaking of media players, the best of all is the VLC.
Premium Link Upgrade

(after 5 minutes)

maleonetwo already did it!
Premium Link Upgrade

Yep, Adobe Reader, RealPlayer (does it still exist), Yahoo/Google toolbar (I also find QuickTime quite a nuisance).

(I also find QuickTime quite a nuisance).

Every time I update QuickTime it hijacks the .mpg file extension so clicking video links opens up another web page with an embedded QT player instead of the normal Windows Media Player. The only way I found to disable it is to go into a "Plugins" folder and rename a bunch of files. All that so I can run iTunes.

Norton Antivirus, the lamest antivirus software

I simply **** what it does to my computer's speed. I can't even leave my computer idle for a few seconds as it sneaks behind the scenes and it keeps heating up my hard drive. Because of it I have ****** countless minutes waiting for my computer to become usable after I turned it on because although the computer is fully on and all of its essential gadgets are up and running but Norton Antivirus has till gotta start in background and show its icon in taskbar. It is always late like an annoying ********* and for that reason everything has to stop and wait for its arrival and nothing can be done until it has blessed us with its icon's presence.

Yet I keep buying it every year because it is a damn good tool when there is a need too find and destroy a virus before any damage. I would happily switch if I knew that the new faster antivirus was equally effective.

Any suggestions?

The Apple Update thing always comes around and interupts me right when I am about to start playing a game. Same with Windows Update and its "Your computer will restart in 10 minutes unless you say you want it to restart in 10 minutes".

And then there are those Yahoo and Google toolbars that everything from Java to WinZip tries to put on your computer...
