Here's how it works with new public health ideas:

Some policy wonk at Harvard dreams it up, but it just sits there in Ivy Tower-land for a long time. Then the idea gets discussed in the press, but most people dismiss it as being far-out. And then it's debated for real, and next thing you know it's policy.

And so here we are with the soda tax, which has companies like Coca-Cola (KO) screaming ****** ******, but which is starting to get some serious play in the press and among politicians.

Here's yet another reason why you don't want to surrender your right to choose your own health care options, if the government becomes the single payer, they will have the capacity to either tax (beyond reasonable affordability) or ban all together anything that they have determined to be potentially unhealthy. You got that ?
Let me put it another way - Whenever the govt needs additional revenues which appears like forever in perpetuity at the rate we're going here are, all they have to do is simply impose yet another silly nonsensical tax on any thing that ''may'' be harmful if ******, like ummm everything.

Ohh, let the fury begin if this thing takes root . :flame:

Of course the self imposed welfare lifestyle unamericans will have no issue with this tax whatsoever.
