This type of thing is not uncommon in porn. Porn is a cynical business where there´s only one thing that matters: money. Many people who work in the porn industry don´t hesitate for a second to try to get stuff for free no matter how unethical the methods are.

I don´t think David Lynch´s movies are the best place to look for "normal" or "common" human behaviour (but it would be kind of entertaining to walk into a room and find a bunch of prostitutes doing a dance routine to "The Loco Motion").
