Have to say I work for a major financial institution in the UK, and credit checks on staff is not only commonplace, but usually a requirement. It's not unheard of for some departments to routinely credit check existing members of staff, they're infrequent enough not to leave any credit...

Aye right in both cases, a tailback is congestion... for example the M4 motorway (highway I guess for you) becomes a 100 mile long car park every morning due to tailbacks.

A book is a personal thing for me, I lend DVD's and games etc but have a rule never to lend books unless you're willing to just give them away as a gift. On the plus side the local market keeps thousands of battered old paperbacks so I try not to pay full price anyway :)
