Back from vacation! Had a great time in Chincoteague last week feeding the wild ponies apples, grilling every night on the porch, and had a camp fire on the beach.

Cool. :)

Not knowingly, anyway.
Actually, they are remarkably healthy eating - less fat than beef.

Were you aware that the ***** of eating ***** meat in Western culture stems from the Catholic Church? A few Popes, starting with Gregory III in 730ish A.D., outlawed the consumption of it to combat "paganism" since eating ***** flesh was part of worshiping some deities in both the Roman and Norse religions (Epona and Odin primarily).

I have a feeling you probably knew this, since religion is more or less your thing, but still... an interesting thing to note. :dunno:

I don't doubt that horses are healthy eating, I'm just opposed to eating them for moral reasons. I don't like to eat ******* that are cute, so no horses, veal, lamb, bunnies, things like that.

bunnies are yummy. it might be the cuteness that makes them taste so good

Can you put up any vacation pics showing the lovely views?

That would be cool to see. :)

Despite having consumed a pretty wide range of the ****** kingdom (wider than most I'd wager) I've actually never had rabbit.

you should give it a try

I've never seen it on any menus, no one I know eats it, and I'm (sadly) a lousy cook (I would like to learn to at some point) so my options are limited. :dunno:

Well, there aren't a lot of woodsy places in my neck of the, uh, woods. And I've never seen it at any of the nicer places where I've eaten (though they've mostly all been Italian, and I guess rabbit isn't big in Italy...?).

Definitely those. Certain fruits and vegetables (tomatoes and eggplants primarily). Some ground meats. And cheeses. Lots and lots of cheese.

I didn't know this before. You learn something new every day.
I'd say religion is less my thing rather than more.

Awesome new pics, Miss Harley. You are, as is said round my way, fit as.

From the file marked "predictable" and "a pattern is emerging" I think this is my favourite :

Huh. You've said a few things in regards to it that struck me as a rather astute, so I just assumed. :dunno:

I don't think many places serve rabbit as part of their menu, least not that I've ever seen. The only reason I've had it is because my ******* used to shoot them once in a while and we'd have them for dinner, along with squirrels. Not my cup of tea.

Squirrels... but... but... who would ever want to hurt a poor little squirrel!? :(

I would like to destroy the lot of them. They're rats with fluffy tails, and they're damned destructive.

Having said that, I have eaten squirrel. A friend of mine hunts them and makes them into things like gumbo. Kinda meh.

As for rabbit, it's more common than you think. Everywhere in North America that I have lived, rabbit was available at the local supermarket. Sometimes you have to ask for it. If prepared correctly, it's really quite delicious. Even better if you can trap a wild one or you can raise it yourself.

a friend i met in college, his grandmother made squirrel dumplings. he never got me any though

Huh. I never knew you were evil, dirk. :dunno:

Rats are awesome though. Without a doubt the rodents with the best demeanor. Seriously, if your **** want a small pet, always go rat. Fuck hamsters and mice, they will bite you as soon as look at you. Guinea pigs aren't much better. Rats are the way to go. They're also one of the cleanest of *******, they self-***** more than cats do, and can't throw up (which is one of the things which made them so good at carrying the plague back in the day).

In all honesty... I'd certainly try squirrel, despite liking them. I don't think there's much in the way of meat that I wouldn't try at least once. I mean, if you're on a plane, and I'm in the seat beside you, and we hit turbulence... run. Fair warning... :D

Well of course it's available at the supermarket, but as I said I'm a lousy cook. Never really had the opportunity to learn (though I'd like to). As such me cooking something I'm entirely unfamiliar with is... probably not the best way to try something.
