Car tires

Last time I checked, wheels represented unsprung weight. And the last time I checked, a steel wheel weighed more than an aluminum wheel of the same dimensions. So you don't need a degree in physics or automotive engineering to figure out which is the better option for most applications: lighter is better.

Yes, but only if they are compares with similar size.

18-inch alloy wheel weight certainly more that orginal 16-inch steel wheels.

Not necessarily. It depends on the wheel in question. For instance, an 18x9 inch Advan RGII weighs about 17.5 pounds. The 16x6.5-inch stock steel wheels on the Chevrolet Cobalt and Malibu weigh 19.2 pounds.

Although they tend to cost more, if you go with forged aluminum wheels, instead of cast alloy wheels, that may have lots of other metals in them to make up for them not being as strong as the forged wheels, you can save a lot of weight and get a bigger wheel that's still lighter. It just depends on what you're prepared to spend.

If you have the money available then ****** wheel can be a good option, but wider tires are not always a good thing.

An increased risk of aquaplaning etc.

Well, someone probably deny that. :sheep:

I have never had anything but the original rims that were made with the car on any car I have own. It's not remotely important enough for me to change them. :dunno:

I suppose if something happened to them and for the functionality of the car I was ****** to buy new ones I would get the cheapest ones I reasonably could.

I have aluminum wheels on my 4x4 pick up, and my Harley. Tell your tire guy to come and call me a ******.

For the way the average person drives, especially those who never do track days, sticking with whatever comes stock on the car probably makes the most sense.

What happens when two macho men meet each other?

It's not a matter of being macho, it's a matter of not letting some fucktard cockmonkey, that's supposed to be working for me, acting like a douche, and being a punk.
