By the same token most Transwomen **** their genitals. It's difficult for folks who don't live our lives to understand it, but we're eternally stuck with the hell of bodies being unaligned. For some surgery, however imperfect, is psychologically better for them than what they were born with.
There's a few of us who don't plan on the surgery, but we're few and far between. Beyond the internal psychological motivations there's also legal concerns (for example the ability to have gender matching legal documents) which drive some decisions.
