Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
Not that I have a dog in this fight, but I think all Nikki was saying was that aside from the lack of a tip, she got a creepy feeling about Mitt Romney. It's just a fact of like that no one is going to be adored by every single person that they meet. I'm sure there are people who have met Obama who don't like him either. That's just life. One doesn't need to find ten people who do think that he's a swell guy to try to contradict the one who thinks he's creepy. It's just life, right? :dunno:
As for the tip, I know nothing at all about campaign finance rules. But I do know quite a bit about corporate per diem rules. And if I'm trying to leave a tip for a housekeeper, I leave some money (out of my own pocket) on the bed with a note that simply says, "Thanks for the great service." It might only be $5 or $10, depending on the level of service and how long I've stayed - maybe a $20 if I've been there for several days and they went out of their way to be kind, but it's just a way to let them know that I appreciate whatever they've done to make my stay better. I cannot and do not try to expense those tips. I can expense meal tips, as long as I stay within the per diem limits. But I haven't found that many hotels that are set up to give tips specifically to housekeepers. So I've always done it my way. And I'm unaware of anything preventing Mr. Romney from doing the exact same thing. I'm going to assume that he carries $100 bills the way that I carry $1 bills - so it's not like he couldn't do it in every hotel he stays in and even feel like his pocket was getting slimmer.
