as far as the MS points go, if they go the same route as PSN as in pre-paid cards, thats fine. but if they expect us gamers to actually use credit cards, BAD IDEA! what parents are going to give there *** a credit card? As far as not being able to play used or borrowed games on the next console, if it happens i could see sales drop as people will not stand for this. this means you won't be able to rent a game to see if you like it before buying which is what i do and i'm sure alot of others do aswell. it will hurt EB Games, Gamestop and GamesFly and other businesses like them.

I can't believe it's taken them this long to decide to get rid of MS points. It was a stupid idea to begin with and if **** want to put money in their account to buy games, they don't have to buy a credit card. They could buy a prepaid card made specifically for the system, just like it is currently with PS3, Xbox or Wii.


As far as the "no used games" thing, this is just completely ridiculous that it could even be considered. About half the games I own are used games and I bet you would have an extremely hard time to find anyone involved in the gaming industry who says they haven't bought a couple used games in their lifetime. Microsoft would definitely be shooting themselves in the foot with that maneuver and if they do it, I would not be surprised if Sony follows suit. If they announced that, the chances of me getting a Wii-U would increase quite a bit

yeah so to get a DLC it would be $6.99 instead of 1200 MS points. i think that would make decision making a bit easier for the ****/parents who don't regularly spend on those prepaid cards. i usually always have my MS points over 1000 just in case- sometimes upwards of 1200 cause most DLC is about 1200. you get a better idea of what you are spending if you have it set monetarily.

i do the same thing. one game that comes to mind is ***** Drive. man i'm glad i rented that first. good concept, REAL BAD gameplay. i couldn't even get past the first round in the tournament. SO MANY glitchs. people rent games to try it before making a final desision to buy it. people also borrow games from friends or relatives. they even bring the game to someones house that doesn't have it yet. i really hope this does not happen.

^^^ I rent games so I can play em till I'm bored, then I'm not stuck with a game collecting dust. Usually not rent to try first. I rent most of my games because very few games are worth a second play through. Also MP doesn't keep my interest that long. The glitchers and ******** talking **** **** me off to a point I never want to play again.

MAG is a rare exception to this. I rented it once, figured I'd check it out, play a few days and send it back. I ended up buying it from gamefly and still throw it in once in awhile. This was well over a year ago!

Bandwidth is getting cheaper and cheaper all the time, and in addition to the cost of actually producing the disks, theres the cost of the rest of the materials (plastic cases, paper labels, shrinkwrap) and the cost of physically shipping all those copies to destinations all around the world. I've got to think it will soon be more cost effective to go the digital route. And if that were to happen Gamestop wouldn't just be sorry, they'd be non-existent.

what happens if this nonsense SOPA bill ever gets passed? would that have any effect on this? IF physical games were to go away and only be avail by download. i dont know too much about the SOPA so i could be talking nonsense myself

I'm not exactly an expert on the subject, but I would think that a bill like SOPA would only affect ******* sites and the like, for people who were stealing the game. Legit digital distribution sites that sell digital copies of games legally, like Steam or Amazon or Gamestop.com, shouldn't be affected. Although with some of these ridiculous bills they've been introducing, I guess you never can be sure.

There are still a lot of people with consoles that don't have fast internet connections and even a lot with good internet connections that don't hook them up to their consoles. Many people have a view on what a game should be and won't be happy or willing to buy them if there is no physical copy. It's the same reason that even though there are more electronic copies being sold all the time physical books are still around.

Then there are people like me that won't buy anything that is sold by somebody that would do what they are trying to pull just out of principle.

This will never happen, the used game market is huge and its one thing to make content only available to first time buyers but not the entire game.

If all games were online only,they would probably need something that would perform and cost similar to a T1(game hosts),and than **** is expensive.The traffic would be fucking ridiculous as well.As many people are online right now,the number would shoot through the roof.

Personally,I'm not sure that they could handle that type of traffic.Maybe in 5-10 years,technology will prove differently,but honestly,I just don't see it.

Aside from that,there's still a large number of people that don't play their games online,and or have limited to no internet access.Basically that would alienate a huge chunk of gamers.

I don't know though,I could be completely wrong and not know what I'm talking about.

Although,checkout a service called Onlive.It's completely disc free gaming.I think we will be able to judge how all of this will turn out by it's success or failure.
