If You Want To Hate America, Hate Us For Our Junk Mail

Jesus Tapdancing Christ, I sometimes wonder how many forests have been bulldozed just to clog up my mailbox alone. And, for me, the problem is compounded because I don't go to my mailbox that often. I know when my bills are going to show. More importantly, I have embraced the 21st century and do my communicating electronically. So when I do go to collect, there's usually a good 3 - 4 lbs. of bullshit flyers and newsprint that is going straight into the trash. Who the fuck ever looks at this crap anyway? Did they ever?

Do Europeans get a shit load of junk mail or are we the only ones that have no earthly clue?

Don't worry, we also have it. But then again, most providers over here filter the mailboxes before the mail actually arrives at it's destination.
Personally I hardly have any junk mail in my mailboxes, not even at work. It all depends what internet sites you visit or what stuff you download.

We don't have providers. We have the United Stated Postal Service and they're not aloud to screen our mail.

True, but if they are so broke and can't operate without taxpayer assistance, why don't they charge these mail spammers more to fill my mailbox with crap I don't want or need?

In the UK, it's the same - it's a waste and I have a pile of unopened crap ready to be burnt. Food packaging is even worse, often find a box within a box!

Junk mail isn't limited to the U.S. It's a global issue, which desperately needs to be addressed.

An average of 15,000 deaths worldwide per year are linked to junk mail. People either kill themselves or gun down postmen. I read it in Time magazine.

There was a story a few years ago about a guy that subscribed to get as much junk mail as possible, and he heated his house with it. Seriously, he paid 0$ to heat his house, because he could burn catalogues and such. It also was sufficient to heat his water.

Not a bad idea...
