Why do the British have bad teeth?

Most british teeth aren't too bad but the British do eat a **** load of chocolate, smoke alot and i'm sure tea stains teeth pretty good as well!

Coffee stains worse than tea.
In the past, I think that this may have been the case to a certain extent, as I don't remember as many of my schoolmates having braces and/or retainers as **** seem to have these days. There is much more emphasis on personal appearance from a younger age these days, hence more **** are now getting braces to ensure straighter teeth, and this stereotype is no longer applicable.

Americans always say that because every single American has to get their their teeth fixed.
I've never seen an American withhout extremely white teeth and with teeth that are not perfectly straight

I guess that depends on your definition of bad. If you equate "bad" with teeth that aren't perfectly white and straight, then yes the British do have bad teeth. The simple fact is, teeth that are slightly off white and a little crooked just aren't the hugest of the concern when it comes to dental care in the UK.
