Re: the Official Nikki Nova thread

I've actually seen the "Moon". I think Sam Rockwell did a great job but I wasn't that crazy about the film. It was well written and wonderfully acted but it was a tad depressing and low to start. It was ok though. I just think Conviction is a far better movie as far as Rockwell's work is concerned.

Nikki needs a weekly movie review.

I liked the Town, but Ben Affleck is too bad of an actor.

If you like Sam Rockwell you should see the movie "Moon" its pretty awesome. He is stuck on the moon and a lot of spooky surprising stuff happens.

Im trying to get through the oscar movies like True Grit, Inception, Kings Speech, but I just don't have the time.

If you want a good cop movie, you cant go wrong with "busty cops" haha ;) I highly recommend it.

I went to see Drive Angry in 3D the other day. I wasn't impressed. Even the 3D was pretty lacklustre.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, so, without getting into any specifics, I will just say I rented Conviction last night, watched it this morning, and like Nikki said.....in one word....EXCELLENT!!!

If you haven't already.....take Nikki's word for it, and rent Conviction asap!!!

If you haven't learned by now, Nikki knows what she is talking about, and she has GREAT taste!!!

I didn't say all that! Ha ha ha!

What I did say is that Nikki definitely knows what she is talking about and that she has great taste in many things! And I stand behind that statement 110%!

Nikki is all-knowing, has superhuman senses, and the ability to twist mathematical reality to her every whim?

I enjoyed Rockwell in "*****," and found it mildly funny. It was a better book.
He was hilarious in "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy"

Funny, yesterday in the breakroom at work they had on the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and who do I happen to see in the punk street gang - yep...you guessed it, Sam Rockwell. Check it out.

The Hitchikers movie was the third best version that ive seen that story. (i havent heard the radio show)

Re: the Official Nikki Nova thread

Oh by the way I have been renting a lot fo movies and watching them at night when can't *****. here are some movie reviews. haha

1). "Conviction"- Best movie I have seen in YERARS! True story. Amazing! Sam Rockwell , Hilary Swank, Juliette Lewis....all superb!!! I want to meet the real life people that it was written about and hug them. Especially Betty Anne Waters. WOW! What an incredile strength, loyalty, love and perserverance she has!!

2)."Never Let Me Go"- Kinda good but creepy, dark, depressing and will not leave you in the happiest place. haha

3). "Town"- good. Entertaining. Affleck usually annoys me but he was really good in this. Best role he has ever done as far as acting and fit.

4). "Meet the Rileys"- Very realistic. Acting was great. Story was dark. End sucked DICK! There's no end. You never find out what happens to the lead girl that the ENTIRE move is based around. WTF? No resolution at all.

5)."Dinner for Schmucks"- Meh. Was ok. Nothing special. Wasn't funny enough.

6)."Date Night"- Fun movie if u just want to keep it light and fun. It's got some funny parts and adventure and what not. Pretty decent.

7). "Grown ups"- I expected it to suck....and I wasn't disappointed. It's like a sit com that lasts as long as a movie. meh.

8). "Pride and Predjudice"- fucking amazing. It's a classic novel so you can't really go wrong. Classics are classics fora reason. Superbly casted and acted. LOVE this film.

9). "The Runaways"- Loved it! Huge Joan Jett fan and love true stories. Music was great. cast and acting were great. Story was great. Would watch it again.

10). "Pirhana"- WOW!. By far the WORST movie I have ever seen IN MY LIFE! I expected it to be stupid but I at least thought it would have the entertainment value of like Jaws 3 or something. WRONG! Was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo BAD!!!!

Great List Nikki. I will add "Conviction" and "Never Let Me Go" to my Netflix que.

"Pirhana 3D" was very bad, but the orginal 1978 version is quite good(cheesy but better than the remake).

Speaking of "Pride and Predjudice" They are now working on "Pride & Predjudice and Zombies" movie based on the best selling book.

I am very interested in seeing these two movies.

3rd???? not including the radio show??

There has only been the TV series (which is brilliant), the books (even better) and the film. Are you including the books?

One of my favourite quotes is Adams description of the Vogon constructor fleet, which he says "hung in the air in much the same way that bricks don't"

i am including the books (which to me is the definitive version) and then the tv show. basically im calling the movie the worst of the three, though not horrible. Mos Def was good in it.

Then I would agree. I did not really feel that the film did the series justice, but I did feel that may be because I had been through ALL of the other media.

youve listened to the radio series? impressive. i dont really have the right disposition to just listen. the only time ive really managed that is on long road trips and only then when i wasnt driving.

and because im sure ive once again got involved in a conversation on Nikki's thread that shed probably not be interested in, let me just say i hope youre winning a few rounds in your bouts with insomnia and all the stress and troubles start to dwindle away. we all love you here. just look, you start talking about movies we're all talking about movies. of course we may tangent a little, but thats only because we need your guiding hand to keep us on the straight and narrow.

There were some more radio episodes quite recently (last few years), so I got them all on CD. I did have tapes of the original series from the late 70's/early 80's

I'm not sure what advice I can really give on insomnia, as I have very rarely suffered from it myself, but I can say that I find reading usually does the trick for me, unless the story gets exciting, in which case I find myself trying to ***** myself awake to read the book.

I forgot to mention that I saw "Welcome to the Rileys" a couple of weeks ago, and, though there was much anticipation surrounding it, mainly because it took about 2 years for it to get released, I was pretty much disappointed in it. Much like with the movie "The Last Exorcism," the ending was pretty much like the writers had no idea how to end it and just slapped something together on the run. It's not like there will be a sequel for "Rileys," so such an ambiguous, open-ended ending seemed sort of like a slap in the face for the time spent watching it and becoming interested in what would happen to the main characters at the end. I figured the main character would end up going to live with the married couple......did she? Who the Hell knows! ha ha ha!

On an other subject, if anyone saw about the fire that ****** those **** in Pennsylvania on the news today, that is the very area that I grew up in. That would be about 5 miles or so outside of Blain. If you want the straight and accurate info, that IS NOT Loysville, it's actually a tiny area between Loysville and Blain called Cisna Run (for mail purposes it's a Blain RD address)! Also, it is not 25 miles away from Harrisburg....more like 35-40 miles west of Harrisburg! I'm a stickler for accuracy....and I was scratching my head about where they were getting their information. But no, I was not familiar with that ******...only that area, and I have my suspicions about what went down...but that will wait. Anyway, it's always sad when anyone gets ****** in a fire.....much less so many ********! I think being ****** in a fire would have to be one of the most horrific ways to die (not that any of them are exactly desirable).

EXACTLY! If it had a different ending it might have been ok but the way it is so dark and deoressing and then just leaves you hanging and wondering if this girl died in Vegas or ever git her **** together or if they ever heard from her again etc and so on. Fucking blows!

It might take you a while to get through though, it was on as a TV series but was very well done
