Well MeesterPerfect is right when he says that het presentation in the media does account for the biggest part of the explanation.
However, cultural factors play a facilitating role I think. The current image of beauty and the very idea that the media can make or break you. (Which thay do ALL the time, just look at all those talent shows.)
What it boils down it that is a nice looking woman, with a lot of wealth and therefore an interesting product. There are a lot more prettier woman in the streets (pretty in the sense that the consensus of majority would find her pretty) but that's not what this is about.

Beauty and attraction is in the eye of the beholder. Its pretty unfair to ask "What's so great about (enter name here)" just because the attributes that make a person hot to someone may not apply to someone else.
