Why, oh why do you have to revive a two year old thread?
 
If the Mayans couldn't predict and defend agianst the arrival of the white guys who would so critically fuck 'em up, I have little faith in their doomsday judgements.
 
The Mayan calander doesn't have weeks,months or years on it. Their long count calender has b'ak'tun as its longest period of time equalling 394.3 solar years. December 21, 2012 is simply the first day of the 14th b'ak'tun

The thing is it ends that day. There will be a galactic alignment but no one knows what that means since no one was here to witness the last one 26,000 years ago. Were overdue for a magnetic shift which would leave the planet vulnerable to the intensified radiation storms predicted for that year by NOAA.
 
According to the United States calendar the world will end in 3999. For some odd reason, it stopped there. When you enter the year 4000, it says error :( Here's the proof:
