NBA '09/'10 Season Thread

I think if the rumors about the Pistons hiring Bill Lambeer turn out to be true, then it won't be long before we have another Malice at the Palace!!

Doug Collins is in the rumor mills as well. Curry sure did not get any slack this last season, made it to the playoffs with a medicore team. Did Dumars think A.I. was any kind of answer? He pretty much traded away for expiring contracts to make a run at the free agent market this year, which I think is still soft; Gordon, Boozer. I dont think those guys will win you a championship, hope I am wrong though.

He sure didn't get any slack. Poor guy.

That Billups for Iverson trade may be the worst trade I've ever seen.

correct me if am i wrong but dont you have to be an assitant coach 1st b4 you can be a head coach so i dont think Bill Lambeer will be the piston coach i think nelson will be

^Nope. The peanut vendor could be coach. Anyone could be coach. I think it will be Lambeer because he and Dumars are bad boy buddies. What's Vinny the Microwave up to:dunno:

I'm starting to wonder if Joe Dumars really is a sharp GM...

i heard they are gonna talk to avery johnson about being the pistons head coach

Blazers and Toronto are said to be the front runners for Turkoglu. If the Blazers get him that will make them much better but I still think that only puts them 3rd in the West. (Behind Lakers and Spurs)

About Wallace, been reading that the Magic and Spurs are both interested. If he goes to one of those two teams he may be the difference maker in a championship. Cleveland should try and get him as well for PF, expecially if they loose Varejao.

I hope Toronto gets Hedo. They need him if they expect to keep Bosh. Also, there is a huge Muslim community in Toronto, that might attract Hedo. I'm pretty sure he is Muslim.

Cleveland is going about this all wrong. What is signing aging players way past their prime going to do to keep Lebron in Cleveland.

I think Detroit should've tried to sign a better player than Charlie Villaneuva. He's very mediocre. Maybe they should've tossed some cash Lamar Odom's way?

With the Yao Ming debacle...I'm shocked Houston isn't trying to get in on the Hedu action, actually...

I like Villanueava. He can be a solid 20pts 8rbs kinda guy. He can also go off for 35-10-8.

I don't like these signings. Only because I **** the Pistons and I want them to be perennial losers.

I don't get the Gordon to detroit. I assume he's comfortable in the sixth man role, because Rip is set there. I don't think Iverson is coming back though. I can see him (Iverson)in that run and *** Knicks offense though, but the word is they're gunning for J-Kidd.

Iverson definitely won't be back in Detroit. He has been quoted saying he wants to play in Cleveland.

Apparently Houston is going after Orlando center Marcin Gortat pretty hard.

Morey made the hard pitch, showing up at Gortat’s home in Orlando just after midnight at virtually the exact minute teams were officially allowed to begin negotiating with free agents.

Gortat’s agent, Guy Zucker, said Morey even showed up in Orlando with a Rockets jersey with Gortat’s name on it. He also said his client was interested in the Rockets.

Any chance of the Lakers letting both Odom and Ariza go and signing Artest?

That would be swell. But I don't want to see Ariza go. He was awesome in the playoffs last year.

Artest likes playing for Rick Adelman in Houston unfortunately. But maybe with the uncertainty surrounding the club, he might jump ship. If we're lucky.

Edit: I just read Artest has had talks with the Lakers, and has even met with Lebron James personally, to talk about the possibility of going to Cleveland.

I think Cleveland will get either Artest or Ariza.

I don't see Artest going to the Lakers, mainly because I don't think Artest will get along with Kobe.

Toronto has dropped out of the running for Turkoglu and has turned their attention to David Lee.

If Artest goes to Cleveland or LA--that team will be the favorite to win it all. Artest is the best player available this summer and an actual legit difference maker. I like Hedo, but I'm not sure he's a first option type player.

Is all this consolidation of top talent on a couple of teams (Cle, Bos, Orl, LAL, SASpurs) really good for the NBA? THere's going to be a WIDE spread between the Haves and the Have Nots if all these superstars sign with these few teams. Over half the league will be unwatchable next year....there will be a lot of 150 - 60 kind of scorelines...

Looks like the Lakers are going to let Ariza walk. He called the $5.6 million offer "a slap in the face"

I like Ariza, and want him to stay, but if he wants to get paid, he's going to get paid. L.A is better off trying to get Artest, or signing Odom and a guy like Pietrus/Barnes on the cheap.

I really like Ariza too. I could see how the Lakers might think of him as nothing more than Devan George.....

Signing Lamar Odom is more important for the Lakers in the short term. Kobe probably will only play 3 or 4 more years max--which coincides with Odom's career span too. Ariza is still a young pup.

I really want Ariza to stay but there are 2 teams who can offer more than MLE to Ariza and I can see him leaving for sure. I'll be happy if Lakers can resign Lamar and get Artest, who will make more of a difference in LA than Ariza. Hopefully Kobe will convince him to go to Lakers and bring another championship to LA.
