Yep, same way i feel, makes it worse being a college student, the majority of people listen to it and to me it all sounds too the same. R&B i **** but i am a fan of old Rap/Hip-Hop where there lyrics were actually about life and the hardships. All i hear today is about how some girl can fuck and is a slut (seems to be all women are in music today) how they own several guns and they will pop a cap out the window of some shitty but expensive car. It sounds like someone reading off a shopping list to a beat.
You said it man!
That freaks me out that the majority listen to it. Can't teach good taste eh?
A neighbor of mine had his radio tuned to pop/r&b the other morning, and although I couldn't hear the lows at all, I swear the same song was playing for 53 minutes. Sadly, I look down on people who just hear music rather than listen to it. R&B is so empty and obvious, I am at a loss to explain why it's so popular.(of course, the videos are more important than the music these days)
"I like it because its got a good beat." - I've heard this excuse so often from people when I call them out for listening to crap. If they knew anything about music, they'd use the word
rhythm not
beat. They like the **** because it has the same qualities of all the previous **** they've adored because it was on the radio. "That's some catchy **** man!!!" Chris Rock
You can make a hit song with one simple element. The clap-snare as I call it, works every fuckin time. You know the one where the snare drum hit is softened as a hands-clap sound(50 cent "its your birthday" or whatever) - it's so fucking money in making a song "sound cool" to the half-wits who buy this ****.
R&B sucks arse!:thefinger
