tuberville tried to change a power team like Auburn to a spread team without the right players. also the big money booster at Auburn dosen't like him at all.

Wasn't canning Franklin enough??? I guess not. :dunno: Good point about the booster, though. Money.

You have to throw the ball in today's College Football or you won't get skill position players. The spread is the perfect offense for Big11 teams PROVIDED they actually throw the ball downfield rather than a simple dink or doink to the TE in the flat or a 10 yrd out pattern to the sideline...
If Big11 teams run the ball in mid-November, how does that help them win BCS bowl games? It doesn't. Therefore, they need to break out of the stoneage or they'll just stay in the routine of getting hammered in the BCS.

Penn State has a nasty defense and solid ground game. But does anyone here think they will beat USC in the Rose? I don't. Maybe if they come out in a no huddle offense with 5 WR for the first half to try to wear out that SC defense...maybe they'll have a chance.

Nebraska plays in crappy weather too. Same with Okie. Nebraska shitcanned the ground ****** for a West Coast offense (which didn't pan out) and now they're going with the spread + I formation. I think they will slowly climb back to relevance. They saw the need to modernize. And I am rooting for Dan Hawkins to bring Colorado back with his creative offense.

That is not totally true. Most teams still have 1 or maybe 2 very good recievers as usual and the rest of the wideouts are just good or fair. The spread just causes mismatches since most teams dont have 1 great cover corner, let alone 5. Mind you it has been a very successful system and very popular. Since this has been popular defenses have really lagged.

If you are a future NFL caliber QB like Stafford or last years Matt Ryan, a pro style system is still your best bet. That is why Pryor chose Ohio State over many other teams. It will be interesting to see where QB's like Daniels or McCoy are drafted.

I think Ohio State is going to utilize more of a spread-based ****** and less "pro-style" WITH Terrell Pryor don't you? Terrell Pryor is the next Tebow. You can't ignore Pryor's running ability. No pro-style ****** has a running QB. USC runs a Pro-style. They don't even have the shotgun as component in the playbook. It's just a gimmick for them.

--Auburn might be the dumbest, most insecure football program in the nation. I hope they circle the drain of irrelevancy for the next decade as a result of their behavior. When Nick SATAN says things are wrong in CFB..than things ARE WRONG in CFB.

--Pat Hill did interview with UDub. He would be a lousy fit for Washington. Glad he's not a serious candidate.

--There are a lot of college jobs open and not many decent candidates. Tuberville should find himself in a pretty good job soon. Maybe Syracuse or UDub?

Well, I agree as in the past few years with Troy Smith, who was very mobile as well, they will add more spread plays with Pryor. I still dont see Tressel changing his game plan or coaching style. They always seem to have a very good ground game and a solid defense to add.

Spot on in regard to Auburn. They just keep changing like the wind with poor choices to keep up with the rest of the SEC.

Yea, very true. They have hated him since the beginning when they went on lowders plane to get Petrino while Tuberville was the coach. It is pretty obvious that florida is not telling anybody whether Percy Harvin is going to be goof to go this weekend or not. That's pretty smart, to keep Bama guessing. I think he will be ready. The same thing happened in 2006 against FSU and he came back and won the SEC mvp in the championship game. I just hope we bring our A game saturday. GO GATORS!!

always keep your opponet guessing when you can. Florida is just making sure Alabama has to prepare for every thing i bet Harvin plays.

Tuberville would be a great fit at Washington the Pac10 needs more coaches to challenge USC.

Spread quaterbacks will be drafted low unless they show at the combine they can hit the deep out and the 20+ yard throws

Texas still has a chance to overtake Oklahoma in the BCS even if they beat Missouri on Saturday. If it's a close game and/or OU looks a bit sloppy with some turnovers, etc, the BCS margin is close enough that the 'horns could indeed leapfrog the Sooners before the final tally is taken.

That, or an outright Mizzou win, is what I am hoping for but how ridiculous it is that it has to boil down to how many points a team wins by or how many fumbles or interceptions they lost in a particular game that would determine which team is better. Someday we'll all laugh at this phony and ludicrous system called the BCS and we will shake our heads in wonder at how we ever bought in to such an idiotic way to determine an NCAA champion.

Texas only chance to get into the BCS Championship game is if Oklahoma loses. If Oklahoma wins the computers will favor them even more plus the people who voted for texas last week will vote for Oklahoma because Texas didnt win the Big 12

Most likely you are correct I agree but, right now, they are separated by only a .0128 margin and with all the emphasis on "style points" these days, it isn't hard to imagine a scenario where a sloppy, close OU win might tip the scales....especially when voters consider that UT blew Mizzou out by 25.

Besides, Mack Brown has a vote in the coach's poll (Stoops doesn't) and he could easily skew things up just enough to make a difference. The coach's poll counts 1/3 toward the BCS rankings. If Brown wanted to, he could vote Texas #1 (or #2 for that matter) and Oklahoma #10 and that would do it. It would be a dirty thing to do, but this fucked-up system we have leaves itself open to such tactics. Obviously, things will crystallize after Saturday night one way or the other.

It looks like USC Offensive Coordinator Steve Sarkisian has agreed to become the new coach of the University of Washington. I think he will "build the program" into a solid Pac-10 winner. But, I have to be honest, and this is not from a bitter, USC Lover, he is not the greatest offensive coordinator I've ever seen. That honor goes to Norm Chow. Sarkisian should be a GREAT head coach, all in all. I wonder who he'll go after for Defensive Coordinator. My guess would be Ken Norton, SC's present LB Coach.

USC's offense this season has not been impressive. SC's offense peaked at the first game of the season--in Virginny when we laid a beatdown on the Cavaliers in VA.

I think Pete Carroll faces a bit of crisis though. Who will he bring in to replace his departing staff?

I really think Auburn is making a HUGE mistake. Tommy Tuberville put a swagger in Auburn and made them a national power which they've never been except for the brief year or 2 that Bo Jackson played there.

The SEC has become a disgusting conference, imo. I do think Fulmer needed to go, but how dumb is Tennessee to give the guy a 5yr extension this summer? Luckily, the Gods of Football will punish Tennessee as they learn they got snookered by hiring Lane Kiffin. He knows nothing about anything.

If Mike Leach goes to Auburn and they have a miserable season in '09, will they give up, hit the panic button again and get rid of Mike Leach? I hope Mike Leach takes Auburn for all the money he can.

Tommy Tuberville could end up in South Carolina next season, my guess. Spurrier hasn't done much there. If Butch Davis leaves Carolina next season, Tubby could go there too.

Why wouldn't Ball State agree to play Boise State? Someone remind me what Ball State has done in college football beyond this season? Ball State should lick the boots of Boise that Boise would even be willing to play them....

How 'bout them Ball State Cardinals. Nice game tonight....looks like they WERE who we thought they were...nyuk nyuk nyuk..

On a separate note...I thought Buffalo Coach Turner Gill's postgame reaction was one of the best sports moments of the year. Wow. Really emotional. Congrats to him!

Buffalo accepted an invitation to play in Toronto’s International Bowl. What a down trodden team, but what a win to finish the year.

Probably against Cincinnati...a game the Bearcats should win.
