When I watch this video, I think...
They asked white, small town, hillbilly country folk from rural Ohio (most of which were elderly and/or religious fanatics who have no stability when it comes to reality) what they thought about a BLACK man who is running for President. What the FUCK kind of responses did they think they were going to get?
My grandparents lived in a country ass part of Ohio like that and EVERYBODY in that area was racist against black people. Why? Because...
A) they were all elderly people who were raised in an extremely racist time
B) they didn't live around black people, so black people were "different" to them
Sad people harbor these thoughts and I'm thankful I know no one like that, but I'm going to have to agree with ChefChiTown's post.

Oh, I agree. Unfortunately, nothing will erase the ignorance from people like that. They are born into a situation where they are almost bound to be a racist when they grow up.
Not to defend them, but...I can't really put 100% of the blame on them as individuals. I wish there was a better way to word that, but there isn't. People like that are pretty much taught to be racist and they don't even know it. They are born into a ****** that is full of racism, so they will grow up in an environment that is full of racism and not know any different. It's sad, but it is true.
Both of my grandparents lived in an area exactly like that and they were most definitely racist. They wouldn't go to KKK rallys or anything extreme like that, but I can remember hearing the word "******" a lot in their household. But, like I said...nothing will erase the ignorance from people like that.

Why aren't professional, successful, self made, black American businessmen ever championed or showcased by the radical, agenda rich, black agitators within the American Society ?
Because successful, self made, black Americans are bad for the racketeering business. Racketeering is a very lucrative endeavor ! Don't for one minute think that these rad - o - orgs are looking for remedy, their cameras only point in the direction of chaos, much of which is staged, BTW.
Seriously, when have you ever seen a televised portrayal - profile of a successful, self made, black American outside of the loom of liberal socialist politics ?

How in the hell would you expect some elderly, Iowa / Ohio hicks to feel about blacks, given the way in which blacks are portrayed ON TELEVISION - disrespectful thugs, gangsta culture, black males' usage of women as a depository, ******** in sports, *********, crack dealers, A mayor that now resides in prison (Detroit), A congressman's wife (Conyers) who literally goes ballistic in front of her colleagues at a city council meeting (also Detroit), A crack smokin mayor ("Awashington" D.C.'s very own Marrion Berry) who goes to jail, looses his seat, only to become reelected back into the position of mayor. etc. etc.
These are the bums that represent "the greater", American African society ?

What's most ironic is - "They" just smear and discredit the likes of a fine American ****** and ****** man, a man who remains married to his first wife, Mr. Bill Cosby.

^ Nicely explained and presented. I never thought of it like that, but I have witnessed behavior that fits right in to what you are saying. I have seen personally black teens and adults described as being "too white" by other black people. Is being successful or studious or hard working somehow contrary to being a black person? Of course not, but due to what young blacks (and whites) see portrayed in the media and in pop culture, this idea rears its ugly head. And it is self-perpetuating as well. The "gangsta" style is perpetuated through music and fashion to where the harmful stereotypes often become what is popular.
I think......its a good thing Obama is going to win the Cuyahoga Cty 63-36 and Franklin County 59-40 because he is still going to carry Ohio by 3 pts

Ok. Good Point. This one is from a rally held at a $40k a year university in eastern Pennsylvania. It's where I grew up. The city has about 70k people in it and is anything but rural.

It's a telling tale to see this when most of those people's best interest would be best served by the Democratic Party, but they haved been duped by the GOP with social,religious, racial issues ,etc..... sighs
First off, that's not the "Republican Base". Its a selection of rednecks. That would be the same as going to San Francisco and asking about McCain and getting the response that he's the "devil" etc et al. This is an example of the democrats being one sided, again.

If you tried to explain the differences between all three of the major politcal parties here in the UK, they would all look exactly the same. Everyone runs to the middle just to get as many votes as possible, and then when they are so diluted from their original dogma, they do absolutly nothing. Labour, The Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats are basically one huge political party.

Unfortunately, those people in that video do represent the republican base. Evidence of this is seen in the very tactics of nearly every republican campaign for political office. Just examine the major talking points of the McCain/Palin campaign. They are all meant to appeal to the middle American, white, racist, uneducated, christian fundamentalists who make up the majority of the republican constituency.
Now I'm not saying every republican is as ignorant and racist as the people in this video. But I am pointing out the fact that the republican party is basically split between the thinking, fiscal conservatives and the more moderate of the party who account for a small minority, and the religious right wing who make up the vast majority of the republican party and have, in effect, seceded from the union already and are trying to take the party with them.
That is one of the most thoughtless and seriously uninformed posts I have ever seen here.
