Anyone Have A 'Hometown Olympian' ?

Im from a small city in east los angeles called el monte - and ever since the atlanta games in 96' our olympic claim to fame has been a local girl - now, woman - named Kim Rhode who's one of the greatest female shooters in the world - haha - my *** only recently pointed out the irony of - 'it figures we'd be known for being good at guns.' Nevertheless, Kim Rhode (who by the way is a white woman and not a bald headed 'cholo') delivered again, winning a silver medal just a few days ago...once again making all of us here in el monte very proud...after every olympics some kind of event - picnic or parade - is held in her honor and she usually wears ALL of the olympic medals she has won around her neck- i remember after the atlanta games, the first time she won, she recieved a heroes welcome at a local park and she even let all the **** take pictures holding her medals - it was pretty cool to see the medals up close and personal...by now i think she's got at least seven or eight...anyways kudos to Kim and team USA.

Does anyone else out there have any athletes from your hometown competing in the beijing games? Any of them win medals so far?

Not in the Olympics, but the former 49ers/Raiders and current Chargers center Jeremy Newberry is from the town that I live in.

Kurt Angle's from my hometown. His home is about 20-25 min from me. 1996 Olympic Freestyle Wrestling Gold Medalist!

Olympic champion figure skater (1976) Dorothy Hamill was from my hometown.

My ****** for a short time lived in the same neighborhood as Mark Spitz, but off the top of my head I don't know if they knew each other.

I work minutes away from the gym where Nastia Liukin (and Carly Patterson) work out. A few of the track athletes are from this area also.

I'm on my way!!! Nastia's legal and I'm sure she'll need protection when she gets home!

SHHH!!! Don't say that too loud, or you'll have Violator begging you to take him to work with you! :1orglaugh

Nah, I just want to know the location of the gym. The rest I can handle on my own!

haha - that's true - 'RUSH' is one badass fighter - probably my favorite ufc fighter too - he seems like a very intelligent, calculating ******* machine - not like alot the dumbass tattoo brutes who fight in the ufc...i dont think ive ever really seen him get hurt in a match. his kicks are like freaking thunder...isn't he fighting again pretty soon for that belt?

and hey dont feel too bad - as of the 7th inning canada's baseball team is beating team usa 4 - 3...and last night i saw a female canadian (who was born in japan though) win the gold medal in wrestling - but you're overall total is 3 medals (to the 54 of usa) --- yeah, i think you're right - RUSH is the best thing going for canada.
