Mine is linguistics, both learning languages (English, Danish, Ancient Greek, Latin, Portuguese, Spanish, Old Church Slavic, Slovene, Bulgarian and Mongolian - of course I don't speak all these languages well) and theoretical problems of linguistics (typology, phonetics, phonology, etc.).

My hobbies are tattooing, drawing (kinda like drdeath do but no way near as good as he is!) Audio, electronics. building subwoofers and so on..

i like winter sports, single track and downhill mountain biking, photography and playing around with Photoshop.
I love to travel so most of my hobbies I can mix in with that. If only i had the time to commit more to them.

I play a little bit of guitar,I absolutely love cars, old and new,ive a small side business designing, building and fitting car audio/visual systems, and general modifying of all cars

I like to read. I guess that's a bit of a hobby. I read various genres, but probably with a focus on Fantasy and zombies and horror.

I have a couple of random minor interests, but I wouldn't exactly call them hobbies.

I'm starting to collect 1:18 scale diecast cars.

I've only got seven at the moment, but I'm hoping to steadily build a good sized collection.

So far I have:

'53 Chevy Corvette
Lamborghini Murcielago
Porsche 911 GT1
Porsche 911 (road version)
Ferrari F40
Ferrari F50
BMW Z4

I'm trying to collect what I consider sports or classic cars, new and old.

Jan!

At your age, it is very impressive that you take on such a 'hobby'! Everyone knows that languages are learned easier when one is young - but your 30s haven't slowed you down any! :)

Na shledanou, Jan! [Did I get that even close to "correct" ?]

My hobby?

- Collect, edit, research military history - my specialties include the Eastern Front of WWII, The Holocaust of WWII, Pacific War WWII, many parts of WWI, the American "Civil War" (so called), The Revolutionary War; and many many others.

- Researching airplanes and gliders and also building gliders. Mostly from Balsa wood and paper. This was/is the project that also earned the interest of my son and daughter! Today, they still (sometimes) contribute to my designs. Once in a while, we'll get together to build a glider and then spend hours sending it up to soar! :)

- Researching/Presenting cases and interventions about breakthroughs in Pediatrics: Focus on Nursing - as I believe they (nurses) are the most valuable asset in our entire, nationwide healthcare community and system!

cheers,

Classic machinery, steam trains, engineering, motorsport (Formula 1, MotoGP, World Rally & British Touring Cars)

cheers,

Your list doesn't surprise me, but it is definitely very interesting. I am also interested in aeroplanes and used to build plastic models, but not glides.

As for my studies, you are right, it goes on too slowly nowadays... I started learning English when I was 17 and the rest more or less later (Greek, Latin and Portuguese at 21 and the others at some 27, except Mongolian, which I started learning only few months ago). Actually I don't believe much I'll ever have sufficient skills to use the languages that I've been learning for relatively short time, but I am far from giving up!

And last but not least, yes, you've typed the Czech greeting absolutely correctly! (By the way, do you know how to pronounce it?)

Playing music, writting music, listenning to music, going at concerts, watching horror movies, collectioning rare Metal music albums, rare horror movies and other horror movies related things, training and all sort of other stuff...

Mostly being a jerk; not caring about the ones who care about me; we're all doomed; fuck this shit, straight for the cake; feel like I'm god, you stupid dumbshit goddamn motherfucker... oh and I guess I like Offspring, they're getting a bit "we're in it for the money" nowadays but they have made some nice songs with nice music and lyrics  , and I also guess that Offspring's "whereabouts" are not a hobby. Please warn me before you ban me.

Do you have any of your work scanned/photographed LL? I'd love to see!

No, not right now. I did sometime ago but lost in a crash. I need to dig out a few small ones I have and scan them. My first attempts were on smaller canvas. I'll see about doing it this weekend and thank you for asking.

My bad, I forgot to mention it in my list. Unfortunately, my German is horribly broken and therefore I always feel ashamed when I try to speak it... But without any doubt, German with its incredible diversity in dialects is a very interesting language.

(By the way, what's your native dialect, my friend? Just curious)
