Wrestlemania XXVII

So I figured I'd create a thread for this, since it's the "super bowl of wrestling" and all. It goes down on April 3rd, and you can bet that us fans will be speculating what will happen all the way there. Two matches are already official for the event:

Edge (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship

The Miz (c) vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship

A third match is pretty much official, too:

The Undertaker vs. Triple H

Now that match will likely have extra stipulations put on it. It wouldn't surprise me if it became a street fight, with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. Or maybe even Kane.

A fourth match is also looking to be official soon, too:

Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler

Did Michael Cole really bring Lawler's dead mother into the storyline? Holy shit!

And, a fifth match that is certain to happen but not yet official:

CM Punk vs. Randy Orton

So with those matches in mind, here's how I think the rest of the card might shape up:

Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Rey Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship. I think that within the next few weeks, on SmackDown, Kofi will drop the title to Rhodes. Mysterio will enter a feud and it will culminate here in a title match.

Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel (c) vs. David Otunga & Mason Ryan for the Tag Team titles. I think it seems logical to have the Nexus and Corre square off.

Eve, Natayla, Beth Phoenix, Kelly Kelly, Trish Stratus & Gail Kim vs. LayCool, The Bella Twins, Maryse & Alicia Fox in a 12-diva tag team match.

Wade Barrett & Ezekiel Jackson vs. The Big Show in a Handicap match. I think this would be a good "lower card" match. You've got the Nexus-only match (Punk/Orton) and the Nexus vs. Corre match. This would be the Corre-only match. (Note: I would prefer to see Big Show vs. Diesel)

Money in the Bank Ladder Match - I expect this to return, with an eight man format. I think the men in the match will be John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Kane, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Christian and Daniel Bryan. If they go for ten men again, I'd say that Michael McGillicutty and Jack Swagger or Ted DiBiase would fill those spots.

The last time I actually watched the WWE was when the Miz was a complete hack. It was like he came out from the audience and into the ring as a Matt Striker type of nonfactor wrestler. It's sad to see a nontalent like him actually get a shot at a big title all these years later when so many better wrestlers got nuthin'. WWE....good grief.

Nothing beats a night of watching men in tights run around a set while an audience of children and parents shout "hes behind you"...shit, that was Jack and the beanstalk!

Probably going to be one of the worst WrestleManias of all time. Nothing about the predicted show (aside from the Rock and maybe Taker/HHH) seems worthy of the biggest show of the year. If WWE were smart, they would add Christian to the World Heavyweight title match because it would open up more possibilites for after the show. Perhaps Edge and Christian could move on and feud with each other because one thinks the other cost him the title while Del Rio goes and faces Kingston or something...

My mistake...according to the OP...THe Miz is the goddamn champ! Ric Flair and Kurt Angle are crying somewhere....

I like how the Rock has finally returned to wrestling but he wont be in action.

Yeah, I used to love back when The Miz was a tag team champ with John Morrison. I always figured that JoMo would break out and be a huge star, while The Miz would be stuck in the midcard. So far it's the exact opposite.

Do you really think it will be that bad? Maybe my predictions are all going to be wrong, but the two title matches seem to be set in stone as well as Cole/Lawler and Punk/Orton.

I agree with the Christian thing. Edge and Christian don't need a belt to have a feud - people will be interested without that. I think Del Rio/Kingston would be a really fun feud for the spring/summer months. I also think it would be cool if Vickie dumps Dolph Ziggler in favor of Del Rio after Wrestlemania, turning Ziggler face in the process. That would be a pretty cool feud too, imo.

Yeah, The Miz has been champ since December.

The Million Dollar Man and Scott Hall are really crying... Mr. Perfect is doing backflips in his grave.

Neither of them have held the gold.

I'll throw Roddy Piper and Goldust in that same boat.

Wow. The freakin' Undertaker is still around? Man, that guy i sawesome.

i really hope the rock costs john cena the match so that the miz will retain

I agree under one condition, and that's that The Rock remains on WWE television after Wrestlemania. They could meet in a huge match at SummerSlam (a la Hogan vs. Michaels in 2005). The only problem is that I think basically everyone (fans, WWE, Cena and Rock themselves) want Rock to be the face and Cena to be the heel. Rock costing Cena a match against one of the biggest heels in WWE would be a hard way to do that.

I think the Miz is fantastic...there has been worse as champ.

Yeah, he's got a lot of charisma. It'd be better for the WWE if he wins against Cena.

I honestly thought cena was turning heel last night when he rapped about the Rock and then winning the tag team titles with the miz,but then the miz screwed him over so now i have no idea...i'm really confused, the Rock said he wanted cena at mania but cena is in the title match with the miz.unless like someone else stated that, the rock costs cena the win and they fued...or cena wins and then the rock wants a shot at cena's title and they square off right then and there and the rock becomes the peoples champ again...undertaker is gonna beat hhh,it's obvious they want the streak to stay alive.

Yeah, there have been worse... but not too many. The Miz is simply the lesser of evils. None of these guys today have the tools to be great. Great champs are made in a couple of main factors:

Personality
Mic Skills
Entrance
Mat Skills
Finisher

Almost all of the WWE superstars are lacking in one or more of these categories. Take Cena for instance: Slightly lacking in personality and has the worst finisher of anyone at his level ever. For his time so far, to hear the smattering of boos during his entrance is a direct result of fans recognizing those missing factors.

Everybody is the man in their hometown. Have you seen the reception William Regal has always gotten in England??? What about the raucus standing ovation the USA hating heel Brett Hart would recieve in Canada???
