World Series Memories anyone?

Anyone mind telling me how great it feels for a team to win the world series or a championship is general? What are your memories and how did it feel?

I was too young in 91' and wasn't born in 87', so I can't remember winning anything. I'm yet to see a team win a championship in Minnesota (besides college hockey and baseball).

1989. Sweeping the Giants, simply amazing.

I keep trying to rep you, but the thing says "no you must spread more rep around."

Thanks for the input. Ever have a meltdown after a horrible final series?

Just wondering is that "big" as your avatar?

Yeah, after the '88 series I went nuts. I was only 12, but I was literally pissed for months afterwards.

And yes, that's Big Black in my avatar :D

I was pissed after the '06 season for a while and after the '08 season I just fucking lost it. I couldn't believe they got home field advantage.

Do you know why big stopped being a body guard? Is it because he wanted to have a life after he got married? Not saying he didn't have a life before, but being a body guard is def a tasking job.

I think he just wanted to do something else, as far as I know.

"A swing, and a belt! Left field! Way back! Blue Jays win it! The Blue Jays are World Series champions as Joe Carter hits a three-run home run in the ninth inning and the Blue Jays have repeated as World Series Champions! Touch 'em all, Joe, you'll never hit a bigger home run in your life!"

I'm a Dodgers fan, but everybody in Canada went nuts in '93. I'll never forget that game.

Unfortunately, I'm too young to have witnessed Kirk Gibson in '88 :(

I'll tell you of a World Series memory that I have. I came home one day when I was in the third grade and turned on the tv expecting to see a World Series game. Instead, the only thing on the news was something about some earthquake in San Fagcisco (I lived in LA at the time). "So, who gives a fuck about an earthquake in San Fagcisco?" thought I, "Let us watch the fucking game!" :1orglaugh

Torn & Frayed.
A World Series memory? That the Baltimore Orioles haven't been in one since 1983....

My earliest WS memory was the big red machine in 75.
I watched the whole reds/red sox series with my mom and from that point on I ate slept and drank baseball.
Practiced and played it everyday.
It had a big influence in my life.
I havealways been a Yankee fan so my favorite memory's are Chris Chambliss'es Play-off game winning home run and Reggie's 3 in a row.
The 90's and early 2000's had some great series as well.

1990 World Series. My Reds swept Shayd's A's. I was at game 2.

That's mine too.
Sure, I remember '75 and '76 - but, I was just a kid, then. That was supposed to be forever. And I didn't realize how long it would be until they got there again.
'89 was miserable in many ways and the Reds weren't supposed to do much in 1990. But, as I jumped up and waved Billy Bates home in game two, I became a believer. And watching Benzinger catch the pop up to end it all in game 4 - I had tears in my eyes.
Unfortunately, this next wait has been longer - though I've had a lot of teams I've been rooting for get the big one. But, nothing matches that feeling when it is YOUR team.

2005 World Series when the White Sox swept the Astros, White Sox lost only one game in the whole postseason....It was great to see

I was 6 when the Phillies won it in 1980. So any memories are vague at best. Joe Carter's home run happened while I was in college and I remember that night distinctly. When the Phils won it again last season? Relief to finally get it over with. And I'm well aware of how jaded that makes me seem.

as a baseball fan...the 2001 series i think would be tough to beat

to me personally...im a rays fan
so last year was pretty fuckin sweet...even if we did lose to the phils....beating those damn red sox was my greatest moment as a baseball fan

2005. One of the best years of my life for several reasons. One of them being the White Sox winning the World Series.

The best moment: Scott Podsednik's walk off home run in Game 2

BTW, Scotty Pods has surged in his return to the ChiSox and I'm ecstatic about it.

The one game playoff against the Twins last year AKA "The Blackout Game" is one of the greatest games I've ever watched.
