A Pakistani native is facing deportation after being charged Wednesday with buying the identity of a Brooklyn boy who died at age 8.
Staten Island deli worker Rizwan Ahmed, 24, paid $10,000 to Hazel Benson, 55, to pass himself off as her *** Michael Keller, who died in 1996 after a long illness, prosecutors said.
The ghoulish scheme veered off course at the Department of Motor Vehicles, where the deceptive duo showed up last June 3. Benson presented her dead boy's Social Security card and identified Ahmed as her ***, but the application was denied and flagged for inspection.
"It was stupid and I was desperate," Benson, of Crown Heights, said yesterday. She wasn't looking for money, she added, but for help in caring for her 90-year-old ***, who suffers from dementia.
"I never received a dime," Benson insisted. She admitted to accompanying Ahmed to the DMV along with his uncle, a longtime friend she knew as Ali.
