Why won't my computer play .MPGs?

Whenever I click on an .mpg file, my computer doesn't play them.

Any reasons for this?

An mpeg file? Open windows media player and drag it to the play button.

Then go to preferences and make sure the filetype associations are restored.

Or alternately.. maybe your mpeg decoder/codec is missing or unregistered. Get a codec pack like nimo, matroska or my new fave: CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack)

I just want it to play in quicktime as it opens to a new link.

mine won't play .avi so I dunno.

You can set your Microsoft Media Player to play those. Same with realplayer.

NO NO NO!!! Download either VLC Media player or Media Player Classic. For MPC, make sure you download all the Xvid codecs.
