You look at basically every red state at you'll see that they rank at or near the bottom when it comes to issues like education, health and poverty. These people, mostly in the south of our country, are in dire poverty, have no healthcare and are uneducated. Despite all this they still vote GOP. Every time. Most of these states have been in Republican control for some time now. And what do they have to show for it?? What do you have to lose at this point?? Can it get any worse??

I also wonder if the philosophy that some collecting benefits think that they have them coming because they earned it but the other group, they are just lazy and won't work so they deserve none.

I have an English colleague. From Northern England an area which suffered terribly during Thatcher's reign, especially during the Miner's Strike. Many of these same areas voted for Boris Johnson's cronies and returned Tory MPs in the last General Election.

When I asked my friend why, after all that had gone before, his answer was that the simply didn't fancy Corbyn (Labour Party Leader) as Prime Minister, because he was too lefty🤷‍♂️

I've never lived in either and have no plans to do so - regardless of who is governor. California dreams are alive and well. CA's population is growing faster than the US overall (7.3% v 6.3%). NYC is growing at a slow rate (1.8%) while the rest of the state is losing population.

I reside in a state which has had Democratic governors for the past 13 years. Population has grown 14.5% over the past decade. That said, the Dems keep complaining about a Republican fiscal restraint amendment passed in the early 90s.

Not sure I get where you are going with this. The majority of African Americans vote Democratic (if you go by the polls), but the states OP is talking about are GOP controlled states (for the most part). Yes, they have large black populations, but the policies are driven by the GOP. Are you insinuating that the black population is dragging down these states and the points OP made about these states being the "Poorest, Fattest, Least Educated" are due to the black populations and not GOP policy (or other factors)? I just don't see how race plays into this argument.
