Picking the Indy 500 winner
INDIANAPOLIS – If you’re looking for an animated conversation at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this month, then ask anyone who they think the winner will be.
Along with being the biggest race in the world, it’s also the most difficult to predict who will win. Strange and even stranger things have happened during the Indy 500, though history does dictate that the driver in victory circle on Sunday is likely to come from out of the first three rows.
Only twice (1911, 1936) has the winner come from as far back as the 28th starting position.
