Very cool, L3ggy But dammit, I just repped you for something else. The other was just silly rep. This is good rep. But I guess it all spends the same.

Odd thing is that if you study the early Roman Republic period, how much the Romans picked up from the late Greek period (culturally and militarily). And in "polite company" upper class Romans tended to speak Greek, not Latin. I guess that's why the Romans considered the Greeks to be one of the few cultures that wasn't comprised of barbarians... which basically just meant someone who did not speak Greek or Latin - though the Romans did look down on the Greeks for their overt acceptance of homosexuality.

Again, thanks for posting that.

in ancient cultures homosexuality was all ok, they banged everything that walked, or flew, and maybe swim

That's not even a little bit true. Ancient cultures varied from place to place and even the same culture varied over time. Rome of the early republican period was a much different place (socially, culturally, sexually) than say Rome of the late imperial period. Early/mid republican period, upper class Roman society was accepting of what we call "homosexuality" in general, but not at all accepting of overt or public displays. It became more liberal by the early imperial period. Modern people tend to twist things up and around because they try to see these ancient cultures in the context of what they know in the here & now. The Romans tended to look at sexual relationships based on who was dominant or masculine and who was submissive or feminine - not so much if the they were same sex. Around the time that Rome conquered Greece, they saw the Greeks as sort of wild & crazy, for lack of a better term. But the Romans copied more things about Greek society than any of the others they encountered.

Yeah, way different. Same with ancient Rome and modern Italy. Sad in a way, when you consider what once was vs. what they are now.

today greeks are mixed with slavic nations and turks, italians from other side got mixed with germans and albanians, this is 21st century people got way too mixed up, and you know back then how many slaves got brought to italy and greece and that had ******** with their owners, which made mixing of their nations. but that's another thing, we're talking culture, way of life here, so as said ancient greeks were different from these our days, modern greeks are more like having orthodox turks, than greeks, just look how similar they are, just different names. greek cuisine is same as turkish, just different namings, dances are similar, just different namings, etc. what's different is just religion.

'Blessed are the Greek'?... Oh the Meek!
Aw, i'm so glad 'cause they have an 'ell of a time.
