Who likes being unemployed and over 30?

That's so true!
It's just a piece of paper. Most employers could care less, It's more like, now,
"What have you done lately?"

That's because a lot of degrees have become meaningless. In the days when the level was kept at a standard only 5% of the population could attain it was at least a yardstick.

I personally LOVE being unemployed, it gives me more time to enjoy life.Making money is easy, but you can't make time. But then I do have a sufficient income to live comfortably.

I've been on the dole for 4 months now, some days are good and others
not so.Like you,I fire my CV out to every Tom,Dick and Harry, but now
I'm thinking I must have a deadly dose...must be a bad day today :D

But I'm sure something will come along eventually, and i'll just need to
keep plugging away. The only thing I can say it was a smart move by
saving throughout those prosperous years :)

I think you just have to remain positive because something will come
along sometime. :thefinger

Good luck :glugglug:

I'm right there with you dude. Something will stick sooner or later.

I have been unemployed for the past 6 months. Within that time I have had about a dozen callbacks and 2 interviews out of God know how many submitted applications. It's frustrating living on the government's dime and I am constantly having my spirit crushed. Having no job is a job in and of itself.
I want everyone to share their thoughts and feelings on how you dealt with it and your experiences with it. Thanks.

Reading your post and it almost exactly describes my situation. Except I've got 3 interviews instead of two. ;) And you are so right, I hate getting unemployment. I feel like a bum sometimes. I know people look down on the unemployed. Hell, when I had a job, one of my coworkers used to bitch about supporting those people with his tax money. Now that the shoe's on the other foot, I wonder what he thinks now. :thefinger I can say I have recently had an interview and have been told I will get a second. While that's good, it's only a part time position, but I guess it's better than nothing.

Good luck to you buddy! :glugglug:

PBS Frontline had a show about regular people over 40 and unemployed this week. I was a sad state of affairs really most people have not had to deal with ever in their life. I really felt the hardship they are living right now. I am one of the lucky ones to have a job among about 5 close friends that are unemployed and have tried very hard to find a job.

I saw a story on the news about people with degrees going out to find jobs that don't normally need degrees. Basically saying that the degree type jobs are even more rare than your average everyday job.

Cool, so you don't have to pay any fees to the union because it is only a three month contract ?
