When will Google PC Operating System will be out?

if you are watching microsoft closely, most of their new products are for business purposes, i think they are focusing on business solutions, this could be their new vision since the competion is very high on consumer products and plus they are already way behind in the market, example cell phones and tablets...

they are also losing their browser market, new generation is switching to mozzilla and chrome...

im pretty sure google is working on a PC operating system, most likely an open source...

im very curious what is gonna happen to microsoft...
if you can check their stock you will see...
and of course google has some inside problems as well..

so the future is going to be different,

google vs microsoft vs apple

A beta was released today I believe.

Where's Shayd? He's all about this stuff and he knows what he's talking about.

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
Ohh, is that what Google Chrome is? I had no idea. I think that would be pretty cool if I could use all my current programs inside that instead of Win.

Great, timely questions.

Assuming nothing fundamental changes anytime soon, short MSFT when it trades above $28+/- and cover the short when it settles back down to $25+/-. Save this post and see how often I'm right. This has worked pretty well for me over the past several years.

Increasingly, Wall Street seems to be seeing Microsoft as a company that is just living off the cash cow that is the MS Office Suite, but can't seem to develop products that can grow revenues into the future. X-box is finally catching on. But revenue from Windows fell almost 4.5% this quarter. PC sales were down about 8% in the quarter. Netbook sales were down around 40% year over year, and that badly hurt Windows 7 consumer sales. For the first time in 20 years, Apple beat Microsoft in quarterly profits. And Apple surpassed Microsoft last year in market cap. MSFT stock is off over 7% this year. The Redmond crew is struggling.

The emerging tech players seem to be Apple, Google and Facebook. Microsoft should continue to have the majority of PC's running Windows for years to come, and they'll continue to make a lot of money from that. The problem is, PC's are not where the growth is these days - and that will probably be even more true as time passes. More people are moving to mobile devices and (soon) cloud computing. And Apple, Google and Facebook seem to have that figured out, and how to monetize the ads within those services, better than Microsoft.

IMO, the best thing that Bill Gates could do for Microsoft is to continue to pay Steve Ballmer's salary, but have him go work for Apple, Google or Facebook. Within 6-12 months, he likely will have totally screwed up their businesses as well as the dickless wonder has Microsoft's. One commentator on Bloomberg compared Microsoft to Wang Labs. Anybody who has been around for awhile MAYBE remembers Wang computers and word processors... and how dominant they were in the 1980's. But they failed to adapt and they fell behind. Now they are no more. I don't see MSFT going under. I just see it as a lumbering, directionless company that needs new leadership ASAP!

No Google Chrome is just a browser not an OS.

There's also a Linux based Chrome OS. From what little I've read about it, it sounds really interesting. But like any other OS, it all comes down to how stable it is and how successful they are in getting programs and applications written for it.

Didn't ShayD say that he'd tested it??? He would be the guy to ask about this.

i figured that fucking google would dip their fat fingers into their own OS. god knows everyone throws their money at google already one way or another.

personally, i despise google. i wont use any of their products.

actually, companies always get into trouble when they grow very fast...
i started to hear stories about how google has been screwing small business owners by disabling their adwords account... they might right or wrong but imagine you have an internet business and cant advertise on google? what else could you do? more than 80% of traffic comes from google...

i think android is a huge success, i dont know whether they are making a lot of profit or not but most likely they will send blackberry out of business in the next ten years...

Google seems like working pretty good with computer producers, motorola, samsung, already is using google software...

im very curious about the future...

i dont have a "smart phone" and im not interested in androids.

i hope blackberry or some other non-google people stick around.

As ever, Rey C is the economics King. That's a seriously interesting and informative view of MS.

Keep 'em coming!

Reporting for duty, gentlemen. :hatsoff:

Yes, I had a chance to play around with early versions of it, and it's pretty cool. The basic concept is that everything is run from your browser. In contrast to the current model, where you run everything from your desktop, Chrome OS boots straight to a browser, with a broad set of applications available at any time from a File menu, or through a keyboard shortcut, (similar to Quicksilver). The OS itself is Linux based, so it does feel quite a bit lighter than the average OS, but the really cool thing I found was that I was up and running in about 2 seconds. From a cold boot, I think the longest I waited was 10 seconds from completely off, to having a webpage fully loaded. Waking it from sleep was around 2, so the OS is pretty snappy. For those that have followed development from the get go, Google advertised it as "virus-proof", although what I tested didn't have that functionality up and running. The concept behind it is that before anything is loaded, it's checked against a white-list of applications etc that are safe. If something is found to be wrong, you boot to an image that's been saved to the cloud beforehand (a la Time Machine).

TL;DR - Chrome OS is quick, light, and from what I experienced, pretty fucking awesome.

No Google Chrome is just a browser not an OS.

Well, technically yes. The OS Google is releasing is called Chrome OS, but most people just call it Chrome for short.

so google OS is already in the market?
how can we test it? does it work under a PC? i mean is it possible to install it to a machine who already has windows? 2 OS?

Viruses are impossible to stop, OS systems are created by viruses and so do OS, so it will be there as long as people are selling antivirus softwares :) Wink Wink

i love my bbery but seems like they will be out of competition soon...
