For traditional heavy metal, my fave is probably Motorhead.
For more industrial speed/death metal, my all time favorite heavy band is The Berzerker. Before anyone suggests it, they didn't steal the mask idea from Slipknot.

The berzerker.....makes me think of Clerks lol And I'm sure they didn't steal the idea for the masks from Slipknot. As Mike Patton and Mr Bungle did it back in '91.

I know it's not true metal but Mr Bungle did have a small element of metal to their music.

Perhaps not necessarily 'metal', but heavy and much to my liking is Alter Bridge. They are superb.

Perhaps a bit odd considering I didn't like Creed much at all.

Live: Slipknot, Gwar, more for the spectacle than music. GG Allin. I may not be right for finding the self-destruction of a junky on stage entertaining. Thankfully I stayed clean.
