When the n ews will reasonably regularly tell you that you live in a place high up in the 'heaviest state' and it is also the test bed for cigarette companies...

There are PLENTY upon plenty of round ladies that couldnt tell you how the weight piled on in the last year, or who the father is, or... yeah. Depressing place to live in.
I believe they call them 'slag', and it makes a man stay home and beat off as the 'wise' thing to do.
