What is the latest good film you watched ?

So much wasted potential with that movie. Still good enough though to watch in the cinema and buy the Blu-ray when it came out.

They should get the guys who make the in game cinematics to work on an animated series or movie.

Video game movies have come a long way since the days of Super Mario. Sonic (the revision) was really well received, Detective Pikachu and Assassin's Creed were also fun and stayed true to the material. I haven't watched Unchartered, but aside from not casting Fillion, it looks good. And the Sonic 2 trailer looks pretty good too.

It takes a lot of guts to film a "one-take" film, i.e. real-time movie shot in one, long, continuous take. Think of one of those famous Tarantino scenes, but it's the entire movie.
I haven't seen too many of them, let alone an action film, so it's worth checking out if you want to see something different.

I watched another one take film recently, Boiling Point, and it was absolutely excellent. Not an action film by any means but still awesome.

Huh, I didn't realize it was a trend.

I will say the action shots were certainly creative - with the camera following the guy to his car, then filming him through the windshield, as he's driving around, getting out of the car, getting into fights, etc....

I remember the best (and only good part) of the Rock's Doom movie what that one-take of the FPS shot.
If this type of film takes off, I hope someone tries another videogame one, like GTA. That would really capture the feel of the game.

Speaking of Action FPS, I just got a craving to re-watch:

Another famous one-take film.

I've also heard of the Russian Ark, which supposedly is was the "first" such film, although I'd be a little skeptical about the claims made about it.

You really can't go wrong with a Pixar film.

If you ever dealt with the inner conflict of loving/trying to impress your parents, and also hating them at the same time, you'll know where this movie is coming from.
The humor is great and the 90s theme is some serious nostalgia - from Tamogochis, Nokia phones, burned mix CDs and things being "Da Bomb".

I finally got around to this.

Holy crap that was mind-blowing. Not just the story itself, but how they planned & filmed it. Hard enough to film a movie where you interact with multiple versions of yourself, but in a one-take movie? I think I might have been a sneaky cut, but in general it's a long take which would have had so many possible things go wrong. I can't imagine the pressure on the actors near the end - it's like putting together a domino masterpiece near the end, knowing that just one screw-up will destroy everything and make you start filming from the beginning.

Just a fun movie to watch & I hope it gets more attention and awards. It kicks the shit out of all the crappy films that usually get nominated.

Boston Israeli Film Festival going on now. I plan on watching: One More Story, Game Changers, and maybe Greener Pastures.

Salem Film Festival starts Mon 3/28. I plan on watching: The Face of Anonymous, and McCurry:The Pursuit of Color.

Update: One More Story was okay - say 3-stars. There were 2 or 3 funny scenes, but it turned out to be a rom-com.
