Was Paul McCartney better with the Beatles or Wings?

I know this may be heresy for some, and I've heard them both but I have to go with Wings. The Beatles to me seem too pop and commercial. Paul McCartney on his own (with his wife) really comes into his own IMO with that 70's sound with Wings. There's something magical about it. My parents listened to all of his stuff, so I kinda grew up on it.

I'd say Let It Be and Hey Jude dictates that he was better with the Beatles.
But I loved the fuck out of Wings.

He had far better solo music than the rest.

Sorry John Lennon fans.

Band On The Run is just fucking awesome.

It would have been nice to have The Beetles another decade but it was time to break up the band. George did well on his own and Lennon never forgot how to write. Ringo still collects checks and continues to fuck Barbara Bach. Beetle music can be covered but Paul continues to perform and write. I'll vote Paul with Wings.

The Beatles. When Paul sang lead and John was singing harmony. Or vice versa, John singing lead and Paul and George singing harmony. It made them first class. One of the reasons why John Hughes used "Twist And Shout" in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." True story.

His bass playing:

Probably his best bass playing was on this Wings song.

Compare it with "Dear Prudence"

Youtube doesn't allow Beatles songs anymore, but listen to the White Album and the original version of "Dear Prudence". "Dear Prudence" is better. Simple as that.

Without the Beatles. There would have been no Wings.

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
I just saw Paul a few months ago, it was a great show, and to my surprise they played my favorite Beatles song, "Being For The Benefit Of Mister Kite", and "Live And Let Die", was an amazing performance. I would bet he spent more on visuals, then a lot of bands spend on their whole tour....and the sound was very good, considering it was in a sorts arena, and not a music venue.

I personally think the early Beatles wasn't very good, and I think their latter music...after they started dropping acid, basically....is much less "poppy" then the latter music they put out, so as a whole, I would tend to lean towards Wings, as my choice. I really liked George Harrison's solo music, but I was far from a fan of John Lennon, solo or otherwise...and Ringo, was just Ringo.
