Over the past few days it had been reported that aid worker Kayla Mueller, captured by ISIS, was used repeatedly as a sex slave by their leader, Abu Bakr-al Baghdadi. But then an odd detail came out: Kayla refused to try to escape from her captivity.
A 14-year old Yazidi girl captured by ISIS in Iraq last August revealed the American aid worker’s ordeal to US officials who later confirmed the reports. When the Yazidi girl escaped with her sister, she asked the American to join them, US officials relayed. Yet Mueller refused out of fear that her foreign appearance would put them in danger.
Her foreign appearance would put them in danger? Remember, this is ISIS controlled terrority. Women are expected to cover themselves from head to toe. Her foreign appearance would not matter in the slightest.
You would think if someone were being raped repeatedly they would grab any chance they had to escape. The fact that Mueller didn't even try is suspicious, at the very least.
Another interesting item is the letter that Mueller wrote to her mother.
In the emotional letter, she does not say anything negative about her captors, writing that she is "completely unharmed + healthy (put on weight in fact); I have been treated w/ the utmost respect + kindness."
Now, of course, a hostage being held by terrorist is not going to be allowed to write that she was tortured by the terrorists. Of course the terrorists will make her write that she is being treated well. But Meuller didn't just write that. She said she was being treated with the "utmost" respect. I am reasonably certain that none of those ISIS barbarians even know the word "utmost". It's over the top. Furthermore, while they may have required her to say she was being well treated, it is very unlikely that they required her to say "the food is so good, I am even gaining weight!".
Neither of these remarks look like the words of simplistic terrorists put into a hostage's mouth; rather, they look like the words of a genuine convert who has bought into the cause.
Now consider, what was Kayla Mueller doing in Syria in the first place? Of all the many countries that need refugee assistance, she went into the one where she had to known that large portions of the country were controlled by the Al-Qaeda's affiliated Al Nusra front and the Islamic State.
If she was so driven to do aid work, why didn't she and her arab boyfriend pick any of the 20 countries that needed help where ISIS wasn't in control? She either didn't worry about ISIS, or actively wanted to join them. What other possibility could there be?
Consider her past affiliation with other radical groups:
On an earlier trip, she went to the middle east to participate in hate-filled demonstrations against Israel as a guest of the International Solidarity Movement, a group affiliated with the terrorist groups HAMAS and Al Qaeda.
Abdullah Abu Rahma, coordinator of the popular committee in the village of Bil’in where Kayla joined the protests, told ISM: “Kayla came to Palestine to stand in solidarity with us. She marched with us and faced the military that occupies our land side by side with us. For this, Kayla will always live in our hearts. We send all our support to her family and will continue, like Kayla, to work against injustice wherever it is.”
In light of her past affiliation with terrorist groups, her decision to go into ISIS terrority, her over-the-top letter, and her refusal to try to escape, doesn't this at least raise some questions in your mind as to whether she really was a captive, or a willing love slave for the Islamic State?
