Well, instead of taking forever and filing extensions, I actually got mine done early. I kept my books up-to-date and cranked out my Schedule C with my accountant in no time. He's great as long as I catch him early.
As usual, I withheld way too much. Even taking self-employment taxes (i.e., double social security) out of the little over $50,000, I'm getting almost $15,000 refund. It's my largest ever. Being self-employed, I'd rather withhold an extra $2-4,000/quarter than not, and find out I'm due $5,000+ instead of being down $5,000+ when I might not have it, even if it means I'm giving the government an interest-free loan (and that money could be better held by a far better charity
).
Oh well, anyone else have theirs done? Especially for you'all with just W2s and the straight-up standard deduction. BTW, I'm glad to see the "marriage penalty" doesn't kick in until after $60,000 or so, although my wife got reamed again because she's married to me. Sigh. She'd easily pay $5,000 less tax if she divorced me, and that just pisses me off that we're penalized for being married.
Just a running poll ... answer it if and when you get yours done (and avoid just hitting "I haven't done it, and won't come back to answer later") ...
