UPDATE: DC Teaser - BRIGHTEST DAY Artists

Update 1 Feb 12: The Source had another new piece of information for folks looking forward to Brightest Day in the form of art teams... at least for the first two issues, both due in May 2010.

The recently announced new artist on Green Lantern Corps, Adrian Syaf, the old artist on GLC, Patrick Gleason, Green Lantern and Blackest Night artist Ivan Reis, and relative newcomer Scott Clark will all be providing art in those first two issues. DC declined to comment at this time exactly how those art duties will be split.

Original Story Feb 11: In what's becoming a heavy day in the "teasers" category, Thursday afternoon DCcomics.com's The Source revealed one of the first promo images from this spring's Brightest Day limited series by Geoff Johns (specifically the cover to May's issue #2), which strongly hints at the return of the DC Universe's King of the Seas, Aquaman.

"Brightest Day is about second chances," adds Johns to speculation about the series. "I think it's been obvious from day one that there are major plans for the heroes and villains from Aquaman to take center stage in the DC Universe, among many others, post-Blackest Night. Brightest Day is not a banner or a vague catch-all direction for the DC Universe, it is a story. Nor is Brightest Day a sign that the DC Universe is going to be all about 'light and brighty' superheroes. Some second chances work out...some don't."

Before we get down to business, let’s take a look at that amazing David Finch BRIGHTEST DAY cover one more time, shall we?

Let’s recap what we know about BRIGHTEST DAY, the twice-monthly epic heading your way in May: It’s written by Geoff Johns and Peter Tomasi. It features covers by superstar artist David Finch. It follows up on the events of BLACKEST NIGHT, currently wreaking havoc on the DCU.

Now we can reveal the art team for the first two issues, hitting in May. And it doesn’t get bigger than this:

Ivan Reis.

Patrick Gleason.

Ardian Syaf.

Scott Clark.

Two superstar artists paired with two rising stars on the biggest book in the DCU. How can you say no?

Reis and Gleason are decorated veterans of the GREEN LANTERN titles and Reis will be hot off his work on BLACKEST NIGHT — how will he up his game for BRIGHTEST DAY? Wait until you see. Syaf, as mentioned earlier, will be pulling double-duty by handling the art chores on writer Tony Bedard’s first GREEN LANTERN CORPS arc and contributing here, and Clark’s work has been seen in the pages of the most recent issue of JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRY FOR JUSTICE.

There you have it, folks. Keep checking back in the coming weeks for a first look at the art of BRIGHTEST DAY.
