United accept 80 million for Ronaldo!

So finally he's off to Real Madrid, Fergie must have plans! :)

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

Accept.
Not except.

£80m is crazy money for Ronaldo : very overpriced in my view.
Nice windfall for Man utd

I expect Sir Alex to use the money wisely

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

He deserves it...after all, if the bankers do...for screwing up the economy.

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

He's a great player and he might have the best technique and tricks I've ever seen I think he's a bitch boy for crying so much and actin' like a bitch on the field....

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

No one is worth 80 million. This sort of thing is not doing any favours to my already low morale for sports such as football. What a joke. The sportsmen of today are pussies. Back in the day they had talent and played for the love of the sport. Nowadays they just play to get a big fat paycheck. There would be no football if it went back to the way it once was that would show how loyal and devoted these over paid playboys are to the game.

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

I suspect in Soccer...there is no glass ceiling...it's all about gaining that 'competitive edge'.

:2cents:

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

Nice bit of business for United, now they can afford Tevez

Are Real going to buy any defenders or are they going to try and win every gane 10-9

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

I think the deal works in United's favour. I wouldnt say anyone is worth £80m.

Exactly.

Times have changed and the money in football is way out of proportion t the ability/skill of the guys playing.

What would a Bobby Charlton or George Best fetch these days?
And they could play the game.

By all accounts Tom Finney was the greatest : and he never left Preston even when money was thrown at him.
THAT WAS LOYALTY.

(the famous quote by Tommy Docherty "they could put Tom Finney out there on the pitch wearing an overcoat - and he's still run rings around the defences, these days!")

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

I suspect 'good looks' take precedence over skill/aptitude. More 'shit for brains' LOL.

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

Florentino Perez and Real Madrid are off to buy the top players of Europe. I hope that this would translate into trophies.

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

Nevermind I thought it was some type of contract.

They do things differently in Europe I guess. :dunno:

Re: United except 80 million for Ronaldo!

It,s a No Brainer any player no matter how good is worth that there is no way you can turn that offer down get him out ! and Buy 2 or 3 world class players with that Crazy money. Real Madrid are destroying football.

In football (soccer) and indeed most sports in the UK, the club owns the player's contract (in fact 3rd party ownership is explicitly prohibited). Real Madrid have agreed a price for the contract with Manchester United, they now need to agree personal terms with Ronaldo (typically this will involve a percentage of the fee to the player as a signing bonus). It's not unknown for a transfer not to go ahead if personal terms cannot be agreed.

Top players earn up to $15m a year (plus bonuses). A lot of it also comes down to who owns the player's image rights. David Beckham typically tries to keep his.

Due to the contract ownership position, clubs try to keep their best players on contracts at least 2-3 years in the future. Alternatively the player can play out their contract and switch clubs as a free agent.
