1. How can incorporating toys into the bedroom help strengthen and increase the level of play in a couple's sex life?
Incorporating toys into the bedroom is one of the easiest ways to increase the level of play and exploration in a couple’s sex life. The idea of using toys made for adults immediately ushers in the thought of play, but there can sometimes be a level of intimidation when first approaching different erotic accessories.
The awesome advantage of the intimidation factor is the conversation that can ensue because of it. Couples are influenced to communicate and speak up when shopping for toys or using toys for the first time.
Questions will naturally arise, and those questions can be answered by watching videos of how the toy is used, experimenting with it, or even taking a class with a professional who can show the couple different ways to use the toy.
There are toys for every type of play and couples can have inspiration for years to come if they open their minds to the possibility of how these accessories can be used.
2. What are some of your very best practical tips to help couples fully express themselves to each other sexually?
There are so many ways for couples to communicate sexually, and I recommend that couples communicate often in a variety of ways.
Send text messages with words of affirmation about how amazing your last session was. Or leave little love notes with your erotic desires on them around the house for your lover to find.
Have a date night where you talk all about the things that have been feeling amazing about your sexual experiences, and also talk about the things that you want to try differently.
The key is to remember that you're both on the same team when it comes to your sex life being pleasurable. So remember not to attack your partner about things in your sex life that you want to improve.
Come to every conversation with ideas of what you would like to try. If speaking about your sexuality is uncomfortable, begin an erotic journal and use it to write down your desires, your fears, the good times, and the ones that need enrichment.
Remember that sexual communication requires both people speaking from the heart. Make requests instead of demands. Use "please" to make a request and say thank you when the request is honored. This is the loving way to communicate.
Sexual expression can also be displayed via how you dress, or how you touch your partner, the way you look into your partner's eyes, or the jokes you tell.
Have conversations regularly about sex whether in a romantic setting or not. Make sex talk, sexy dressing, sensual eating, and the like a part of your everyday life in some kind of way. This normalizes sexual expression.
3. Tell us more about Glamerotica101 & “Master Your Orgasm”! What inspired you to create how-to content and what can people expect to learn?
I began Glamerotica101.com because I was tired of not seeing black women represented within sex education.
When I began my work in 2010, there weren’t any young, black women speaking about sex in a way that was both educational and empowering without being overly ambitious about promoting the “hoe” lifestyle.
So I decided to begin Glamerotica101.com not just for black women, but for all women who felt like they couldn’t relate to what was being broadcasted as sexual information.
One missing piece to what I saw in the industry was the accessible “how to” videos that could show people how to go about the mechanics of sex in a way that was sexy and educational without being pornographic. So I began my YouTube channel to supplement my blog and to reach more viewers.
My goal was to touch the lives of people around the world, and now seven years later, I’ve accomplished that.
People can expect to learn how to get into different sex positions, how to perform certain sexual acts, and they will learn a vast amount of information about sexual anatomy, the arousal process, and how the body functions. There’s so much content on the way!
You can also check out my Authentic Tantra® course "Master Your Orgasm" for women. It's a 90 day course featuring 6 weeks of live sessions that provide an introduction to Authentic Tantra for orgasmic discovery. The women who are enrolled in the course have access to all course curriculum and replays until December 10th.
4. What topics have been most popular on your blog and YouTube channel and what has the popularity of them revealed about what people are looking for the most guidance with?
The most popular topics on my blog have been about threesomes, squirting, and women riding on top. What these topics have shown me is that people are interested in fulfilling group sex fantasies and eager to wet the bed on command (lol).
Really, what I've learned is that people are eager to explore and learn more about different sexual dynamics and about how their bodies work. Women want to have more confidence in being in control in the bedroom and that makes me the happiest.
5. What's the very best bedroom advice you've ever received (and most like to give!)?
The best bedroom advice I was ever given was to be myself and to relax. We show up to sexual experiences feeling like we have to put on a show or an act for the sex to be this explosive experience. But the truth is, when we can show up authentically and allow ourselves to relax into our vulnerability, the sex is bound to be climactic and connected.
