top 25 movies of all time, interesting list

My God am I fucking sick and tired of The Godfather getting the top spot. It's a really really good film I agree, but the top spot ALL THE TIME? Get over it.

It pisses me off even more than people putting Nevermind number one on an album list.

When The Dark Knight get's into a list of the top 25 movies of all time it must be discounted as comeplete nonsense as soon as humanly possible. :1orglaugh

I guess they put it in because of how successful it was :dunno:

My thoughts exactly. These subjective lists are such bullshit. Where's Saving Private Ryan?

Top 25 movies of all time? Not according to me.

Yeah but by that logic where's Titanic? That did more business and it won a tonne of Oscars......

Anyway, no one could ever write a definitive movie list that everyone would agree on. So maybe they shouldn't have tried. Or at least say it's someones personal list and not market it as the "top 25 movies of all time".

More than happy to agree with 22, but The Dark Knight and WALL-E?? :wtf: Dark Knight: full of car chases, the 'plot' is bloody incoherent, Bale has a bizarre tendency deliver everything he says in a deliberate deep voice, and Ledger - I am sorry to say this - is over-rated as an actor IMO. Oh, and Forrest Gump??:clown:

What would I replace with? God, so many to choose from but as I write currently: Once Upon A Time in America; Carlito's Way; The King of Comedy; Out of The Past (and quite a few other film noirs); Home Alone (maybe, and to replace their FG) and many others...I'll sleep on it.;)

I gotta disagree with you. It makes MY personal list of top 25 films, because it is a fucking great film, but the definitive list of all time should be the classics that everyone agrees on.

Like everyone else has said, a definitive list is impossible to make because everyone has their own opinions. Maybe they need a world wide poll. EVERYONE gets to give their top 25 and you figure it out that way. Unrealistic? That's how I roll, baby.

^I think most would disagree with me. I find the entire sextuplet of Batman series of movies unexciting, uninteresting and repetitive. Do I have one possible favorite?? Probably, but they have so completely butchered the entire franchise by consecutive sequels - "this one will be bigger and gross even more box office receipts!!" - that I cannot, for the life of me, remember LOL. Ditto Spiderman

Give me Superman (except the last) and Sin City any day:thumbsup:

In 2007, a book was published that compiled a meta-list. The authors Schnelle and Thiemann reviewed more than 60 "Best Movies"-lists and awarded points to the ranked movies on every list. Citizen Kane came in first, then Casablanca, Godfather third.

I couldn't find the exact rankings, only a list of the Top 50 in random order.

1. The Godfather (1972)

The first of a trilogy based on Mario Puzo's original novel, The Godfather sets a high standard in terms of quality crime thrillers in cinema. Set in post-war America and spanning a decade, the film introduces audiences to the Corleone family, headed by patriarch Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando, in an Oscar winning role), and chronicling their highs and lows as they suffer through business disagreements with rival mob families. Director Francis Ford Coppola puts considerable emphasis on the familial bonds between father and sons, namely Sonny (James Caan) and Michael (Al Pacino), resulting in a powerful tale about family loyalty and the inner workings of organized crime in the 1940s. The film earned a Best Picture Oscar in 1972. 9.5/10

...but it's still not better than GoodFellas:D

The whole list is HORSE SHIT as Uwe Boll's Postal movie isn't on there.

That movie kicks ass. It is well funny. And in more ways that one.
