Tom Brady to Patriots fans: 'Start ******** early'

By Steve Silva, Boston.com Staff
FOXBOROUGH -- Tom Brady wants fans to be loud and well-hydrated on Sunday.

With the home opener approaching, the Patriots quarterback was asked if he had any message for the fans heading to Foxborough to see the Patriots-Chargers game.

"Yeah, start ******** early," Brady said with a snicker. "Get nice and rowdy. It's a 4:15 game, a lot of time to get lubed up. Come out here, and cheer for the home team."

The Patriots later clarified the "******** early" remark on behalf of Brady, telling the assembled media, "He meant 'stay hydrated, ***** a lot of water. Be loud, ***** responsibly.'"

Brady was reminded that Gillette Stadium has a reputation for having been a quiet place for the home team to play football over the last few years.

"Look, we make good plays, they're going to scream," Brady said. "If we don't make good plays, they're going to probably boo us. So we're going to focus on making good plays. The crowd, it always helps when they're loud but we got to give them reasons to be loud, we've got to give them reasons to cheer for us. Hopefully those muskets are going off a lot this weekend."

I saw that interview today. :1orglaugh As a lifelong New England resident and Patriots fan (AND season ticket holder for the last 12 years, BTW) all I can say to Brady is this: Tommy, what the heck do you think all of us tailgaters are doing out there in the parking lots? Playing cribbage? Hello!? It starts with lots of this :****: :****: :****: :****: :glugglug: :glugglug: :glugglug: :yummie: :yummie: :yummie:

Followed by lots peeing and, for some who ***** too much:

Then we gather inside the stadium ... :crowdgrin

And finally a victory celebration ... :partysml:

Weekend prediction: Pats 31, Chargers 21

Here I thought most offenses like when the crowd is quit when they are on the field.

I also think I remember reading somewhere that Brady once said he looked at Internet porn in some interview. Maybe that's been his secret to success all along. Perhaps he's a member on here and can clarify his statements.

In that case I would like to ask him why that channeled success hasn't seemed to translate to the rest of us here like it did him. It's not like for lack of amount or trying for a lot of people here. :D

The teams spin was as well done as they could make it, but we all know what he meant. Get shitfaced and enjoy the game. If you need to be told to ***** responsibly, you never were going to in the first place.

49ers Banning Tailgating At Candlestick Park After Kickoffs

The Candlestick Park ******** last Saturday after the Oakland Raiders-San Francisco 49ers game has already resulted in a suspension of the series. Now it looks as if the entire fan experience for Niners fans is about to be radically altered.

There will still be tailgating allowed for Niners fans, but it is now restricted to four hours before kickoff and ends when the game starts. Eric Branch tweeted that tailgating during and after the games has been ******. Security will also be beefed up during tailgating period. Tim Kawakami tweets that during tailgating periods, there will be 2-officer teams patrolling the areas to spot potential issues, and these places must be vacated before kickoff (either by going into the stadium or leaving the areas).

On some level, this does make sense. Candlestick has never been in the safest location for an NFL stadium, and it's probably for the best that there's no extracurricular activity happening in the parking lot during a football game. Besides, if you're at an NFL game, it probably makes sense to watch it inside right? And tailgating after the game can probably lead to trouble. Still, it's a very sudden development that could take time for 49ers fans to get used to.

Q:Is this a reasonable policy and do you think that it's going to settle things down?
&A: Not if Tom Brady has his way! :****: :rofl2:

Q: Do you think that this policy has a chance of being adopted throughout the league?
&A: It's all yours... :dunno:

New law you have to blow a certain low number before being allowed entrance into any stadium.

It seems reasonable for that team/area I suppose. And definitely NO tailgating prior to any Radiers/49ers matchups. The bay area has some problems with ********, although I personally think that if someone is predisposed to certain violent acts (stabbing/shooting/etc...) that the individual in question probably would be willing to perpetrate those acts sober or otherwise. No to mention the fact that if they want to *****/smoke/whatever before a sporting event, they're probably going to do so, seeing as how shooting and stabbing people is already against the law all across the country I seriously doubt a franchise imposed "no tailgating" rule is going to have any affect/deterrence on the people who the rule is targeted to control.

As a side note, I'll be willing to bet that even though tailgating isn't allowed at Candlestick anymore, they sure won't be taking the $9 Bud Lights off of the menu once inside the game. Isn't that where all this happened anyhow? Inside, during the contest? I guess, in essence, the 49ers front office is saying to its fans "If you're going to get ***** enough to stab/shoot somebody, its going to cost you $9 a beverage."

Q: Do you think that this policy has a chance of being adopted throughout the league?

Not a chance. The NFL fanbase, especially those fans that actually attend games, has just got to be more than 90% blue collar (I don't have any statistics to back this claim up, but it just seems like an obvious truth, to me at least). Trying to take away tailgating from the game altogether would have some serious consequences. And aside from the ********, tailgating is a very serious part of the gameday experience in itself. Places like Lambeau and others I'm sure, consider tailgating to be a right, as well as a tradition. No way this ever becomes a league-wide thing. No way.

With the NUMEROUS **** kiosks and the frequency at which **** hawkers march up and down the aisles at Gillette, the NFL and the team clearly WANTS its fans to ***** up -- responsibly, of course. ;)
