Wreaths across America is an event that takes place around Christmas each year. Participants clear the tombstone of any debris, say the deceased's name, and place the wreath against or near their tombstone. The Veteran's Cemetary in Boulder City, NV, was expecting around 100 people to participate today. Around 700 people showed up at 8:30am. I knew neither man I honored today (They were both USMC vets who served in Korea) but I hope they know they were remembered today. I would have included pics of their graves but I think the view of one section is more impactful and Postimage.org kind of sucks with bigger pictures.
Rancho High School's Jr USAF ROTC contingent as well as a JR USN ROTC showed up and helped. That was pretty neat to see a couple hundred kids do something more with their Saturday than eat Cheerios and watch cartoons, or whatever kids do these days.
There are roughly 35,000 graves located there and every one of them received a wreath and someone saying their name, many probably. for the first time in years.
May the burdens of this world rest lightly on their shoulders.
Not a tombstone, but I love the epitaph. Bosh Miller must've been one hell of a guy.
I have more pics but posimage.org won't let me upload, due to size constraints.
