Australian billionaire to build Titanic II

One of Australia's richest men, Clive Palmer, has unveiled plans for a 21st century version of the Titanic to be built in China, with its first voyage from England to New York set for 2016.

Palmer, a self-made mining billionaire, said he has commissioned state-owned Chinese company CSC Jinling Shipyard to construct Titanic II with exactly the same dimensions as its predecessor.

"It will be every bit as luxurious as the original Titanic but of course it will have state-of-the-art 21st century technology and the latest navigation and safety systems," Palmer said in a statement, released on Monday.

"Titanic II will sail in the northern hemisphere and her maiden voyage from England to North America is scheduled for late 2016.

"We have invited the Chinese navy to escort Titanic II on its maiden voyage to New York."

I saw this earlier on Yahoo! News. Truth be told I think this should not be allowed. It is a disgrace how the events in this boats lifespan have been milked to death (no pun intended) by the media and others. Such tragic events being the center of money making. I know it's happened before and will happen again with other events in the past and those yet to come. But really, this Titanic 2 idea needs to be grounded and left where it is. There should NEVER be another Titanic boat made. Never. To do such a thing is as bad as bastards landing on the boat it's self down in the depths which is like desecrating a gravesite by doing just that!. And even them looting from it as well is unacceptable. No respect whatsofucking ever.

Titanic 2 has already been done. Some guy brought a toy boat and called it Titanic 2, and took it out to sail it. And yes it did sink as well.

As per international regulations (SOLAS) imposed after the sinking of the Titanic, every ship has lifeboats and liferafts with capacity covering the number of people allowed to carry. This does not say much however (see Costa Concordia).
China is the biggest shipbuilding country in the world in recent years.
But who would board a ship called Titanic, even II?
