What happened to my thread "FactZone", it is not showing up in the search and when I follow this link from "reputaton received" in my profile it is showing a page of my thread in some other thread "Trivia Today"
http://board.freeones.com/showthread.php?p=4758967#post4758967

The last time I checked was on 2010-08-06 when I posted in my thread and got a reply too. Now I can't find the thread, whether it is moved or deleted or something else, if so why?

There is no trash section in here where the deleted threads move to and from where thread starters can request the moderator to restore their threads, so I could't make out a thing

It looks like a mod merged your thread with the "Trivia today" thread. He or she probably thought that the two threads were very similar in content.

If that's the case there are many more at the verge of merge.
really, there are many similar threads in here, not "SAME".

Posted by various members at different time, one is way too old and the other being new (in my case its two years time gap) with separate, distinct titles showing similar content not "same" again. Now how can a moderator merge those threads
The search function sucks in here, it does't show up the accurate results when searched for if a similar thread exists before posting the thread.

Yes, this one is a little strange. You usually have to PM a mod and actually request a merger to make it happen. Also, one would think that they (the moderator) would let you know what had happened, and why.
And yes, the search engine is a little bit fucked in the head. A tip is to uncheck the pre-selected "Show threads" option, and check the "Show posts" option instead.

The thread "FactZone" was merged with a similar thread "Trivia Today" which was older. The nature of the threads are similar and time to time threads are merged to un-clutter the board.

It's really not a pre-requisite. Can you appreciate the work-load that would increase in that scenario?

Regarding Search - Is it possible to fulfill all the needs that may come up? But your suggestion for post selection is a good one.
