December 4
The chances of light snow and flurries expected this afternoon in San Antonio are diminishing while some Texas counties are experiencing almost three inches.
Forecasters are predicting temperatures staying in the mid-30's today and sunny, with afternoon clouds Saturday. A freeze warning will remain in effect tonight.
The previously earliest recorded snowfall for these areas was December 10.
Travelers are urged to use caution traveling east of San Antonio. According to the National Weather Center, "Researchers say that 70 percent of the fatalities related to ice and snow occur in automobiles."
Edwards County and the Hill Country is experiencing light snow, with Houston forecasts show up to four inches in some areas.
Jenny Wu and Rebekka Glass, (pictured) designers for Gensler, went outside their office at noon at the Penzoil Building in downtown Houston to enjoy the snow. By contrast, at the same time, Marriott Courtyard valet parking attendants Cory Ruiz and Marcos Villesca wondered if snow would fall in downtown San Antonio.
