The Open Championship

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Been watching all day today. I was certain the tournament would end when Woods didn't make the cut. But alas, it has continued. I would love to see Watson win. I think even par is going to be great score tomorrow. It's going to come down to who can keep their score where it is and not give any back.

It is an amazing story. I just caught the last couple of holes, when Watson made that long putt on 16. WOW!

If Watson wins tomorrow....greatest win in the history of Golf. Surpasses Nicklaus at the Masters in '86...anything Tiger has done thus far.....

I'm not jumping up and down just yet but this would be perhaps the greatest story in the history of sports let alone golf if somehow he can hang on and win it tomorrow. He looked cool and relaxed out there today and his putting is incredible. I'll be getting up early tomorrow to watch the drama unfold, that's for sure.

Go Tom Go!!!!

Toom!

I don't know about that....that's a pretty big statement. Golf is not the world's most popular sport. It will be the greatest golf win for sure....:hatsoff:

Very true, T-Rock and hence the use of the word "perhaps" in my statement. It would make for a nice debate for sure should he pull it off.

Looks like it might go down to a playoff. I'm not sure Watson has anything left.

Edit: After I said that, he hits an incredible shot from the rough onto the green.

I hate to use the "c" word so I won't but Watson had it in his grasp and he let it go. You could see him crumble in the playoff....all the steam went out of him with that missed putt to win at 18. Congrats to Cink....he played a helluva round today.

That said, it takes nothing away from the magnitude of Tom Watson's performance. Unbelievable.....a story-book drama right out of a novel. It's the greatest thing in the history of golf that almost happened. And, it was downright inspiring.

Having had back trouble the past decade, I haven't played golf in a long time. Also, I'm a contemporary of Tom Watson's (just a few years behind him) so he is definitely a generational figure to whom I can relate. So....you know what? I think I might just go up in the attic and dust off that old golf bag of mine.....maybe head on over the the driving range and see if maybe I can resurrect a little bit of that youthful magic like the great Tom Watson did this past week at Turnberry.

Thanks, Tom. You were great this week. You give hope and inspiration to other old bastards like me who sometimes have the misguided perception that we might be over the hill. Thanks for reminding us that we aren't.
